I use MSN. But I customize it to get rid of the crap, and honestly, I thiknk it's the best than the others. Gtalk is too plain and no one uses it. AIM is for adults in the US, and Yahoo is for people who live in the 3rd world. And well, IRC is for nerds (no offense).

So it did end up being renewed? I remember all the fan outrage against its cancellation, and the encore episodes thing, but never heard whether it would be back for a second season. No, the real reason is because I'm a business major in college, and one of the things most people in business should learn is a second language. Unfortunately my college does not offer any second language courses, and I'm poor as hell. Since you live in the US, try Spanish instead. Not to mention it's easier to learn compared to Japanese. And if you want to learn Japanese for business, wouldn't it be more reasonable to learn a Chinese dialect instead?
