If i could find my first animation i'd show you but it was not that bad. Mine was a stock photo of a scalpel falling from the top of the screen to the bottom and sticking in the bottom with blood squirting and then had it linked ot the entrance of a former site i had. And you shouldn't use paint to go step by step, work right in the program it's self.

If you want to have sound and what not go with Flash, if you'd like to just do a simple animation Imageready works. Theres also a decent program called Swish thats a flash type program. You might wnat to give those a try.
