Need advice now on where best to train

Featured Replies

I am a free player got some advice late last week on where to train. It has worked out well, there are some smart people on this forum.

My question....I have moved from combat lvl. 72 to now 77. Moved from att. of 63 to 66, str from 57 to 64...my def is still at 52..thinking about leaving it there??

I am fighting fleshy crawlers..should I stay there til I lvl up more or is there a place where xp is faster and I can get up to att,str lvl 80 quicker.

My HP is around 63, prayer high 40's.

Thanks

Stay there, spider will drain your food fast.

ok...what level would you say it would be safe to move on to another beast to kill that would give good quick xp in the free world?

Thanks for the advice

ok...what level would you say it would be safe to move on to another beast to kill that would give good quick xp in the free world?

Why do you think that you have to move on?

In some other games, like EQ, you earn exp according to difference

between your combat level and the level of the monster.

But in Rs, you earn exp only according to HitDone*4.

The level of the monster doesn't matter.

Hitting a 2 on a rat earns the exact same 8 exp as hitting a 2 on a Greater Demon,

so you might as well make it easy and safe on yourself and kill lower level monsters.

Now, a lower level monster will die quickly so you want to have a

replacement right away. That means fast respawn or crowded conditions.

The SoS is ideal for that.

I suggest that you stay right where you are hunting Flesh crawlers.

For fast exp you really want to be killing non-stop. The SoS can allow you to do that.

Low level monsters are for fast exp, high level monsters are for good loot.

Hope this helps

Thanks Goobore:

I still have a lot to learn about the game.....I don't mind the flshy crawlers too bad...been here since Tues. power killing...lol

Didn't know if there were any other monsters in SoS, that compare to the fleshies...when say i hit maybe 70 att and str.

Thanks

...Didn't know if there were any other monsters in SoS, that compare to the fleshies...

Well, the monsters do get harder as you go deeper

Level 1 < 2 < 3 < 4

and some monsters are auto-aggressive and some are not.

So, if you get bored then you could work on getting your sceptre

or even try harder monsters for fun/loot.

But your food consumption and exp per hour will suffer.

RS is a game heavily oriented, unfortunately, towards mindless exp grinding

so taking a break to work on other things can help keep it fresh.

Finally, take a look at Tip It's SoS guide.

It has maps and a discussion of each level.

Hope this helps

A guy in the game at Fleshys was 70 str and 66 att...said mossies were a lot faster training than fleshies......

like yousaid they might be but the food consumption and banking kill time.

Thanks

A guy in the game at Fleshys was 70 str and 66 att...said mossies were a lot faster training than fleshies

'Course, that's just what he would say if he wanted you to leave "his" monsters alone.

Why was he at FC if they are worse than MG?

...said mossies were a lot faster training than fleshies...

Mossies are usually way overhunted.

So, you probably won't be able to get enough of them fast enough to level well.

Plus, they have higher defense so you will hit less often

and, because they have higher attack as well, they will hit you more often

requiring you to use more food. That will slow down your leveling when

you stop to bank.

Mossies give more exp per kill compared to a Flesh Crawler.

That might be what he's thinking.

But consider, how can you possibly do any better than

to be a non-stop killing machine slaughtering critters?

It's the hits that counts towards exp, not the level or exp per monster.

You really want to be hitting constantly for fast exp.

But, rather than take our word for it, do an experiment for yourself.

Take 3 lobsters and kill Mossies for 30 minutes

and then kill FCs for 30 minutes and see how you do.

Then, hunt whatever worked best for you.

Hope this helps

You are exactly right no need for a test between the 2. I can stay on the fleshies for an hour or so......I know a lot less with the mossies.

now that I am getting in the 60's, those numbers between levels sure do get farther apart....lol

Thanks Again

...now that I am getting in the 60's, those numbers between levels sure do get farther apart...

Yeah, the required exp "doubles" every 7 levels.

(about 10.4% more per level)

In other words, going from 60-67 takes

the "same" exp as going from 1-60...
