Yes, doing Slayer assignments with cannon is the fastest way to raise Slayer and it will skyrocket your ranged too. This way is considered the most effective use of a cannon.

 

Just be prepared to pay for cannonballs.

 

 

 

Also I would recommend to take assignments from Vanakka as he gives a lot of cannonable assignments.

It's faster to train Slayer with cannon, but you don't recieve any Hp xp from the cannonballs unfortunatly ;).

the exp from cannon balls isnt too great btw. Better off just using your money on chins.

It isn't the best way to train ranged only. But if you're going to train Slayer too, then it's a good steady income of xp, and it makes the tasks much faster.
