I had to stand directly under the lens (not the part you look into the telescope but the part on the other side).

Makes sense as this area received a graphical update. The English in the clue is very bad though :S "Think in the under" :-k Was this a typo?

Yeah... send a report to Jagex. I did for a grammatical error by Postie Pete (at CW, the old it's and its one) and it got changed in no time.

 

 

 

Should be, "Think underneath the lens of the Observatory" I believe.
