Technically, black&white and grayscale are two different things. As referred to in definition 3.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The same is true for the word "Monochrome"

yea monochrome (sp?) is shading with diffrent shades of only one color.

Not neccesarily shading, just any image that is or is mostly one hue.
