I have roughly 70 pages (if I bothered to print these...) worth of tables comparing every mainstream equippable item to every other and sorted from best to worst. It's what I use to quickly look up what's better than what, consider if something is worth buying, etc. Now I intended to make the tables into images and then post them in the AoW for other people to use. But that's where the problem lies. What's the best way to convert an Excel Spreadsheet (.xls) into an image (.png, .gif, .jpeg, etc.)? What I've usually done in the past is just take a screenshot of the table and open it up in PS CS2 for editing, but there are so many tables for these items and they're so long that taking screenshots (even at resolutions like 1920x1200 with Gadwin PrintScreen) is totally impractical. I can't just choose to Save As .png or something. The only options for saving in Excel are: Microsoft Office Excel Workbook (.xls) XML Spreadsheet (.xml) Single File Web Page (.mht, .mhtml) Web Page (.htm, .html) Template (.xlt) Text (Tab delimited) (.txt) Would saving it as a web page and then uploading the page to say... a friend's host work? All I want to be able to do is to make the tables available for public use, image or html, it doesn't really matter.
September 9, 200718 yr I haven't used excel in a long time, but I would think that your best bet would be to find a program and export them as a PDF or something, and upload that. *cough*OpenOffice calc can export as PDF, and it will also open excel files...*cough* [/opensource] Sorry I couldn't help anymore than that... After its html, re-code it as BBcode, and post it? Though I don't know how long it would take? *No idea, just guessing.* Perhaps spread the work out? Ask some friends to take pics of the spreadsheets, and edit them or w/e? 70/5=14 pages for everyone...
September 9, 200718 yr Another way would be to install CutePDF which installs a virtual file printer that creates PDFs. Print to and hey presto you have it all in PDF. But I agree with skatedog111, I would just make the webpages by hand out of the excel data. If you like, post the file and I will see what I can suggest. [Assist-X]
September 9, 200718 yr It might be possible to install a web design package like Dreamweaver and copy and paste the tabls across directly to get the raw HTML. If you use "Save as HTML" in Excel, you'll simply get a web page with a Microsoft Excel ActiveX spreadsheet on it so you don't want that. September 9, 200718 yr Author Before my stupid graphics driver crashed my pc for the 3rd time yesterday, I downloaded OpenOffice and used the Calc to convert the excel spreadsheets into PDFs. I opened them up in Photoshop and they came out all distorted so I had to play with the DPI of the PDF for awhile until I hit it just right at 152 DPI, then I had to reduce their size by 50 percent. They look fine now and I'll be able to upload them as images. I'm not too worried about the inability to use CTRL+F because each table will be 1 image, and each one will be arranged from highest to lowest and then if they are of equal values it arranges them alphabetically. Things should be easy to find.

September 9, 200718 yr Author Trust me... if i Did it at 72 dpi the image would look distorted. Making it 152 and decreasing the size by 50 percent makes it look WAY better, no matter what your screensize is. I just finished making them images (94 in all) and I'm about to upload them.
