Good.. good, but what exactly is a Majharrat..?

A majharrat is an extra-Gielnor being that comes from Freneskae, due to their powers, they are considered gods, I.e. Zamorack is a majharrat, who took over from the majharrat Zaros, and so on.

This will be explained a bit more in detail later in the story.

Chapter 15: So many years, so many days

The chaos was astounding, thank goodness Mr. Hintak couldn't see the mess. Hylean wass crouched in the center of the room, screaming his lungs out while holding where the spear had pierced him. Ranguvar and the Seer were continuously trying to get him to teleport, but failed as Hylean's magic repulsed them. Alexia ran up to him and tried to get close enough, but a powerful blast sent her flying into the next room.

Eventually, the Seer used a teleother spell and Hylean disappeared. Alexia, unable to run, tried to limp in as fast as she could, but she was too late. She just leaned against the door posts and waited for someone to explain to her why this had to happen.

"I told you not to come down, you'll get no sympathy. Ranguvar, please do not go after him, he will return to the way he once was... in a couple years." The Seer said coldly.

...

"I'm sorry, this is hard for me too." And the Seer walked away, and teleported.

Alexia looked at Ranguvar, her head was down, a cut across her forehead. "He's like that, this means he's really worried, he did that when Mom died too. Just sort of alienated everyone. But when he says something, it happens, our family can see the future." Ranguvar said, more to herself than Alexia.

"But where did he go?"

"The Wilderness, to kill. It would be best if you stayed with me and worked here."

"No, I want to see Hylean."

"That will hurt you both, Dad said that the magical energy must be released if he is to be around normal people. Just, please, stay here."

-Wilderness-

It was dark and bleak, and the corpses of many were all around. They weren't dead a minute ago. Hylean moved around, looking for the living, halberd and dagger in hand. Blood dripped all about him as he scrounged for food and water, he ate and walked away. Something in his mind crying, but in his insanity, he could not comprehend.

-Falador-

"Will it be so many years and so many days before we could be united?"

Ranguvar joined Alexia on the rooftop. "You know, I think Majharrat are some of the toughest people, we take a beating... and we keep loving. ... Let him go for now. It's for the best, he'll come, and then you can have him to yourself, eh?"

"I'm going out, don't wait up." And she jumped down. Grabbing her underused bow and a selection of arrows. She would go to the cause, and hopefully, finally figure out what she was to do.

Chapter 16: Prelude to betrayal

The battlefield was inhabited by just one warrior. He had killed the warring armies, Zamorack would hear it as a Saradomin army destroyed his, suffering heavy losses and retreated. Saradomin would hear the same, and no one would send people to kill him.

-Zamorack Keep-

Zamorack had observed a more noticeable drop in his army of doom, but he had plenty, whats a couple hundred to an evil lord.

"CONA!"

"Sir!" Cona stood to attention at his dread lord's command.

"I want you to find the reason, my armies cannot be defeated so easily with such loss!"

"As you command!" Cona bowed and walked off, he wasn't the advanced scouting general of Zamorack for nothing!

-Just outside the wilderness-

Alexia walked back and forth from the strangely placed Wilderness Ditch. She couldn't make up her mind, she wanted to help Hylean, but everyone had told her to wait. Who to believe, herself or others? Herself, of course came the answer from the depths of her heart, others, said her mind. In the end, she listened to her heart.

Walking through the desolated terrain, she tried to think about what to say or how to act. She knew she loved Hylean, but did he really love her? How would he react? Was he over his original fits of destruction? Why did her heart hurt, why did her mind scream to go back?

-battlefield-

Hylean watched the dead bodies, they were dead alright! He chuckled to himself, the dead stayed dead. He liked the dead, and that one person, he struggled to remember, no, its gone now. Shrugging, he returned to his grizzly task of killing survivors.

Chapter 17: The last betrayal

Sir Tain was a Saradominist, and a temple knight, in fact, he was the youngest ever to achieve that position, second in line to Sir Tiffy Cashien. He was sent on a most dangerous mission, find out who in the world destroyed their army! Not that that was a big loss, it was barely a fraction of their forces, but still, the slaying of about 550 soldiers was not something to sneer at. He entered the wilderness without fear, Saradomin would give him the strength to see it through.

-The battlefield-

Alexia stumbled across the battlefield, marveling at its horror, who could have done this? Suddenly, an arm slid across her neck. "Now, what pretty to we have here, eh? Hee hee! Another soldier to kill!" Alexia realized who it was.

"Hylean! It's me, Alexia, remember?" The arm slackened a bit.

"Alexia, I don't know any Lexias, I think I should kill you." Alexia unconsciously struggled against the arm. So this is why the Seer told her to stay away.

"Well well well! Look what I find! Hyleeean and his stinking girlfriend! Prepare to die!" Cona charged the pair, wielding his shadow spear as usual. Hylean wrenched Alexia's neck, nearly slaying her. Alexia fell, nearly choking as well, Hylean didn't recognize her! Why?

Cona was taunting Hylean as they circled, Hylean had been able to block his attacks this time, now HERE was a challenge! "Ha ha ha ha ha! You feel the effects? Yes? Of my spear! My wondrous spear! It morphs the feeler! Makes like a monster, kill! It desires to kill! Killing me would help! But I ain't gonna die!" He charged Hylean and they locked weapons pushing against each other. Hylean's magical powers, enhanced by the shadow spear, shaped themselves into tentacles and slid their way to Cona, trying to catch him.

But Cona was quick, he jumped over the attack and attacked Hylean from above. He floated above Hylean's head, taunting him again. Hylean Grabbed several packs of runes from a small group of mages, he leapt up and attacked him in the air.

They weaved around each other again, this time, Cona did not taunt him. He instead attempted to hit him with blasts of power, but to no effect. Hylean rushed him, trying to pierce Cona with his dagger, while parrying his halberd on his spear. They struggled, then fell back.

Alexia had, by now, recovered from her near-death and picked up her bow. It was a specially made compound bow, only she could wield it; it was gift from her mother. She aimed carefully, and... bingo! Cona fell a little, wounded by her shot. Hylean took advantage of his momentary distraction and slashed him down the middle, nearly killing him.

Sir Tain arrived on the battlefield to see the Zamorackian fall. But then something strange happened.

Cona was laughing! He didn't see it as defeat, but rather, another opportunity to kill! "My spear makes Majharrat crazy! It will make me strong! Stronger than you! To kill you!!!" He stabbed the spear into his own chest, and waves of energy poured out. He laughed again, and began to change into a humongous monster. It had a barely man's shape, it stood on two legs like tree trunks, its arms had fingers longer than Hylean's halberd. It was not talkative, however, and it began to try to smash the pair.

Sir Tain watched it all, but decided to attack, running up, he joined the trio n the battle. Being a mage, he sent waves of attacks toward the monster, while Hylean dodged attacking whatever seemed vulnerable or a weak point. Alexia sent arrows to where the eyes where. The monster tried to smash the heroes, but the spear made of darkness that unleashes the monster in all of us did not help him.

He fell, the three attackers could not lose. He withered away into nothing, with a scream and a shout.

"Awfully sorry to intrude, wot! But I thought you two buffers might need help, doncha-know... I say, is that boyo alright?"

Hylean was convulsing, clutching his chest, he then stood up. he smiled a bit, then hugged Alexia to him, dancing around, he laughed as Alexia cried. It felt good to be back, with Alexia in his arms. But he put her down, Alexia, feeling better, composed herself and introduced the two of them.

"Wot? I do say! Its all so confusing! No matter, how would you two like to work for my organization, wot?"

Alexia shook her head and leaned against Hylean, who thought about it.

"I see, two young lovers, wot? I don't blame you in the least."

Hylean then pushed her away.

"I'm sorry, but I can't stay with you yet, the powers I have are barely controlled, the only way I can be sure to keep everyone safe, from others and myself is to leave. I have been hurting others for far too long to risk someone like you."

Alexia looked at him in disbelief, then, she kind of collapsed on herself, trying to understand what was being said. She knew full well what he meant, and her face tore him apart as well.

"I accept your offer, but not quite yet. I need to expel some magical power first. Alexia, I need you to wait for me."

She ignored him, pleading with her eyes. Hylean felt worse and worse. Why did it feel like he was betraying her too?

Sir Tain decided to be ambivalent of the entire thing. Alexia was teleported out and Hylean waited for Sir Tain to say something.

"Well, now that the soppy stuff is over, would you come with me, some bugger's wiped out an army."

Why did his heart hurt so much?

This is nearly over everyone! Noes! Big Time-leap ahead! 5-6 years, now it will follow the story of the RPG.

Several years in the future.

Hylean killed the last of his targets, as well as several Saradominist warriors who had assisted him. The balance had to be maintained so that his powers wouldn't go wild. He hated to kill now, he hated to keep killing without good reason at least. His powers would be better controlled if he hadn't killed people in the first place! If that monster...!

His powers flared out and destroyed several pillars in that now empty castle. He flinched, he couldn't keep his anger in check. Better destroy the castle then. He teleported from the rubble.

"We have a mission from you, friend." Sir Tain stepped out toward Hylean as he arrived in Falador. He spoke so that he would not stick out at all. Hylean hated yet envied his ability to be all things to all men.

"I have ceased thinking you as a friend. And I want to see those I love."

"This is urgent, more urgent than your girlfriend, your sister. It is for your powers and for your and your girlfriend's safety."

"Stop mentioning them!" Hylean whirled on him, nearly losing control.

"My apologies. If you will do what we wish, we shall continue to pay."

"... I be there in the morning or later tonight."

Sir Tain walked into the shadows. Hylean was not trusted enough for the secret base. He looked to the inn, almost ran, but forced himself to walk. He hadn't seen them for years, but...

He put up his hood, and broke a scent flask, which masked his scent, giving those who smelt him a false appearance without a good long look. The doors opened and closed and he was in and heading for the second floor. He looked too tough to dispute what floor he should be on.

The waitresses moved around, the bar was relatively empty, the patrons of this floor preferring the darker tables. He choose the empty one nearest to the bar. It was also closest to the stage and the entrance to the kitchen. Best chance to see those waitresses. Mmmmhhhmmmm...

Ranguvar walked over, she was the toughest, for the toughest looking customer. "What will it be sir."

He deepened his voice. "Just an ale, I'll eat later. The stage is a recent addition?"

"Why yes sir, just last month, you are in luck, Alexia, (she's over there) will be singing soon." She walked away and brought him his ale. "Don't hesitate to ask for your food."

Alexia, after a small amount of coaxing, ran up to the stage and began to sing.

"A sad song to match my mood I heard this once from a bard called Gund Amexiat, he used to sing this at the end of funerals-

Despair is a sweet trap-

A locked door..."

She kept singing her sad song, and Hylean felt it pierce and pierce and pierce his heart, until his heart could be pierced no more. He cried and stood up, tossing his coins on the table, teleported out. Alexia looked at the small amount of smoke left by the teleport, and glanced at Ranguvar. She nodded. He couldn't stay, but at least he tried to spare the pain.

Hylean walked to Sir Tiffy Cashien. Who nodded in his direction and discreetly passed him a folder. He walked off without looking at it. The Wilderness is there for all people who wish death.

Chapter 18: Hero?

The latest mission: Kill Lady Fuyama, self proclaimed queen of the Slain Warriors. It was simple, the only thing they had was numbers to their advantage. Hylean had no problems, and had purged the castle of its inhabitants.

His powers were at last gone, only the sight and runic magical ability remained to him. His non-magical fighting was, of course, unaffected.

He stood over the volcano, pondering his next move.

"Quite frankly guys, you clatter so loudly you could wake Zaros."

"We'll send you to meet him! Give him my regards!" Hylean smiled a little as they charged, it still felt good to fight. The red glare from the volcano gave appropriate lighting. Beheading the leader with his halberd, he used momentum to twist into the fighter behind him, cutting his spinal cord. The next three fell to him. The last ran. Hylean let him go. He would tell the story of a warrior who had killed them all so easily.

He left the volcano and went toward Falador. He pondered things as he walked, very few things alive could possibly threaten him, he took no heed to the things that cowered before him. Blood-drenched with a dripping halberd and dagger, he made an disgusting, but dangerous figure.

He thought about things, he felt he could go home for good now. But, the things he did, did it really deserve what some people said of him, the Saradominists said he was a hero. But, when he killed his old Zamorakian comrade, Kinnin, it hurt. Rankin and the rest were killed by that Hero Fienrir. He hated him somewhat. He wanted to know why he killed for the side of good, when the good side was in the advantage, with the rumor he was Guthix and all that. Ugh.

He halted at the last body of water before Falador, warriors gave him a wide birth. They looked powerful, and could feel the ability to kill whoever he choose radiating off of Hylean. He washed and entered Falador. Looking at the inn, he thought it better to talk to Sir Tiffy Cashien to report job well done.

After that, he entered the inn, which had little changed since he was last there. Walking up to the second floor, he was greeted by a most joyous Alexia.

"Hylean!" She cried as she jumped him. "Its been so long and the letters were always too short! Its been too long! Hyleeean!" She held him tightly. Obviously, she was starved for hugs, which Hylean soon gave into her desires.

Ranguvar walked in and hid her smile. "Hylean! You've been gone for years and you just walk in!"

"That's right! I came bearing gifts!" Ranguvar showed her smile. Looking around, Hylean used the moment to taunt his sister. "No boyfriend yet I see." *Slap!* "Argh!"

Alexia was worrying over Hylean, who was momentarily fazed by the force of the blow. "You didn't have to hit him that hard!"

"Sorry! hah ha ha ha..."

Mr. Hintak came in. "I heard a... Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude."

Hylean got up and rummaged a bit. "Hey! It's alright, I got something for you."

"Wines of Zamorak... How thoughtful. Thank you very much!" He shuffled out, what he used those things for Hylean would never know.

"Your welcome!" He smiled, it would be a wonderful day!

------ Outside Edgeville-----

A lone man was walking back from the scarred battlefields of the far North. The Wilderness, a dangerous place were only the toughest go. Fienrir went there to quell his thirst for blood; there wasn't a single scratch on him. Thoughts raced through his mind, as he stepped into the large crowd of people, all awaiting there husbands to return. He drew his buster sword, which was coated with blood, and the crowd hushed and stared with awe. He took out a thin piece of cloth to whipe the blood, and walked away as he heard gossiping from all of the female warriors.

"Hey!" Fienrir glanced as a young boy ran up to him. "Is my daddy coming back?" Fienrir withdrew his blade, and sighed. "Your father...Awaits you at nightfall. He fought with valor." The young boy smiled, and ran towards the crowd. More and more people asked him about the war, and Fienrir answered them all sincerely.

He walked away, his desire for blood nearly overpowering him. It was that warrior, so drenched in blood, with an aura of death... He felt something like a kindred spirit, but he began to run, trying to keep himself sane, keep himself from the desire to kill.

He fell at a farmyard door and got up... so close to killing many... There was an argument going on, he read the minds and saw that one of them would be leaving soon. Waiting for him was easy, and he came out with a flurry of curses at his back.

"Hello!" Fienrir said a little suddenly.

The young man jumped a little, then shot an arrow at Fienrir. Fienrir easily caught it. "Shall we go for a walk? I'll explain on the way.

Name's Fienrir, yours?"

"Ed...Edward." He said following.

"Now, I don't think it really matters why you ran away, but I can tell a good fighter at a glance, and with a little stance work, you can become quite formidable."

Edward nodded. It would be nice to be strong.

-Falador-

Hylean had spent the day with his two best friends. He then received a secret summons from the Temple Knights, sighing, he excused himself. Both Alexia and Ranguvar knew he worked for a secret society of some kind, Ranguvar merely waited for Hylean to come back. Alexia followed him. Why must he leave? Why must he always leave!?

Hylean disappeared and reappeared some time later from the park. Alexia caught up with him.

"Hylean! Wait!" She grabbed him across the shoulders. "Why must you always leave!"

Hylean didn't answer for a while, he just looked away. "To keep you from the real villains of this stinking world. I am leaving for Lumbridge, the Hero got an apprentice, I don't know why, but they want me to kill them both. I am truly sorry, after this one, there won't be any more missions, and I won't have to kill people when they don't threaten me. And I can be with you for the rest of our lives.

He left. Alexia did not show her true emotions.

Chapter 19: One more wound...

-Outside Lumbridge-

Fienrir was training Ed in all things combat, but Ed still excelled at the longbow, finally exhausted, they stopped for a breather.

"That was fun!" Ed said quite happily, this was much better than farming!

"You're not so bad." Fienrir replied.

"Thanks! Where'd you learn magic?"

"The wars."

"I knew your name sounded familiar! You're Fienrir, the Hero!"

"That I am. I have a question."

"Ask away!"

"If you had to choose light or darkness, what would you choose?"

"Well, what did you choose?"

"... Neither..."

-Among the citizens moving around-

Hylean watched the two, he did not need to hear what was said, it didn't matter, he needed to end this quickly. This wasn't the time nor place, however, so, the guard would be happy to apprehend a criminal in the eyes of the world governments.

-Fienrir and Ed-

"Edward!" Fienrir withdrew his sword into the giant sheath that was hanging from his back.

"Coming..." The depressed voice said, as he walked towards the river. He noticed worry in Edwards eyes, and saw a glint of a tear stream down his face.

"What's wrong? You miss your family? If you do, then go back."

"No! You've taught me...That choosing a path is hard, light or darkness. You chose neither, but it makes no sense! So what are you?" Edward made an angry gesture with his fists.

"I guess you've never heard of the path that runs in-between Lux and Tenebris. The path that was sought out by many, but could never be walked because of the terrible power contained within! The path of Twilight is a path that is danger among others; look at these...Rings." Edward listened intently to the long explanation, and looked at the two rings that reflected the sun's rays with an immense glint. "They...Cannot come off." Edward looked up at the Fienrir's face, a face that can scar a man, the face of defeat.

"I'm...Sorry." Edward said to Fienrir, as they walked into the heat of the desert. Fienrir made no sudden movements, nor did he make a gesture that would mean "It's okay." Instead, he walked towards the bank, and slowly gripped the handle of his blade for any defensive maneuvers he would have to pull. Edward knew there would be trouble coming up.

"You Fienrir?"

"Indeed I am."

"Alright! Take him!" The guards charged him, wielding their swords at him to what could have been Fienrir's amusement, but was rather pity.

"I won't be responsible for your deaths." Fienrir took off the first one's arm and spun the sword into his neck, killing him. The guards did not falter. "Sigh... Well then!" He and Edward dropped into combat positions. Edward, nervous during his first battle, missed several targets as Fienrir battled the guards. "Aim!" Edward took a breath and took out a guard by putting an arrow into his arm.

Eventually, the guards disappeared, they didn't really want to die to a powerful person such as Fienrir.

Hylean cursed fate that he had underestimated the hero to such a degree. He had heard the junk about light and darkness, Lux and Tenebris. One always had to choose light or darkness. One's own services, if they harmed non-wrongdoers were evil and vice-versa. but he checked himself, philosophy was not in the job description.

Fienrir slowly walked into the bank, listening to the merchants try to sell their belongings and the buyers offering their amount. Nothing suspicious here, he thought. He was about to withdraw his sword, but he heard one of the merchants pose a threat upon a young woman.

"That's all you can offer? Get out of my sight, knave!" He slapped the girl onto the ground.

"How about you get out of my sight before you die?" Fienrir's red eye glinted with rage, his blue eye slowly converting to a tinted orange.

"And who are you? The tax collector?" The wealthy around him laughed.

"Me?" Swiftly, Fienrir threw the blade and swiftly, faster that lightning, ran behind the man and caught the blade, now holding it against the man's neck. Edward noticed that Fienrir's eyes were completely blood-shot and red, as those around him fled for cover, Edward, too.

"Please, let me go?"

"The avarice of man...Covers those who would hit a woman with few gold coins to the ground, who would go to such lengths as to sell a cheap sword for such a price." Fienrir took the two-handed sword and crushed it with his hands. "You asked who I was? Well..." He smashed the man with the hilt of his blade "I am Argarok!" The man drew a crescent blade and a defender, awaiting Argarok's next move. "Valiance blinds the ignorant..." Argarok held the sword in the air, forming a fire ball "You are one of the ignorant fools!" He released the fireball into the man, melting the armor off of his body, burning his torso, also.

"What was that?! That was no normal fireball!" The man was now on his knees, begging for mercy. Argarok stepped over to the man, holding his blade up to the man's scarred neck, and replied: "Pick up your sword...Fight me as you would a regular man." The man scowled, and picked up his crescent blade, and attempted to slash Argarok. Failed attempt. Argarok smashed the man out of the bank, onto the sands of the heated desert of Al-Karhid, blood dripping from his torso. Argarok showed no mercy, running out into the heat, taking in his power, and slashed the man into a nearby house.

"P-Please..." The man was dripping with blood, burns scarred his red body. He was crying, begging for mercy.

"Mercy...Is for the weak." Argarok jumped into the air, and held his sword into a stab position, crushing the man's chest with the tip of the blade, finishing the man's life. Argarok smiled, and the red eyes receded, reforming into a red eye, the other blue, and Fienrir withdrew the blade from the chest of the man, rage and anguish filled his eyes. The body quickly melted into oblivion, leaving only the bones of the man behind.

"May Saradomin guard you well..." Fienrir fearlessly buried the bones, and walked back into the bank.

"Fienrir...What---"

"Enough. I'll explain later."

"Th-thank you..." The young woman walked up to him, bowing to him.

"Get up...Don't bow down to me. But take this." He took a small note from his pocket. The woman took it, and gasped: "Why give me this money? It is so much..." Fienrir had already walked out before she could say anymore.

"What happens next?"

"I don't know, Edward. That display you saw was nothing but my rage." Fienrir and Edward were relaxing beside a tree in Lumbridge.

"I think we should leave, people are looking at us strangely." Edward commented.

"Varrock then, I know people. I'll explain what happened to me on the way."

Hylean watched them leave. Following, he marked their speed then went ahead, he could prepare something very nice. With the festival coming up, Fienrir was sure to visit the King, with whom he was very good friends. Why were guards so easy to bribe? He chuckled to himself.

-In Varrock-

Arriving at the grand city, crowded as ever, Fienrir knew he wouldn't have to keep a high guard here. "Alright Ed," Fienrir said "take this money, and get a new supply of arrows, and a new bow if you would like." Ed happily took the money, running towards the fletching shop, and Fienrir walked towards the grand castle. He wwas relieved when he reached the shade; either it was hot, or the body heat from thse people are making it warm. Regardless, Fienrir slowly walked inside of the castle (there was no difference inside; there were actually more people inside than out!) and whistled.

"Fienrir!" Looking over, the king was walking towards him, readying himself for the code of arms (A handshake to tell if you were to kill the man or not). "You came! I was afraid that you would be side tracked."

"Oh, I was. I'm actually training a kid, who had wished to run away from his home."

"Really?"

"He's very strong...I want him to be my pupil..."

"He's that strong? Incredible..."

"He has a heart of a lion...He is going to be a very strong lad." King Roald pat Fienrir's back, repliying:

"He may have a heart of a lion, but does he have a heart of Fenrir? You do..."

"You know as well as I do...I'm known for that...But I have a heart of a demon." Roald and Fienrir were already at the top of the tower, looking over all of the people, and Fienrir saw Ed running towards the castle. Roald cleared his voice (Fienrir cast a spell to be projected), and began:

"Welcome one and all! I'm very glad that all of you could make it. As you all know, it is the first annual festival, and all of our warriors from the war have returned. Many of you have been wondering were the warrior of legend went, or what happened to him. Well, he is right here. Please, welcome Fienrir!" The crowd boomed with cheers of excitment and awe.

Edward, having gotten separated, tried to get into the castle.

"Oi! Where you goin' bub?!?" The first guard said. "Get lost! You ain't gettin' in!"

"I'm a friend of the hero! You have to let me in! I'm his protoge!"

"Too bad, national security issues!" The obstinant guard replied.

"Gah!" He walked away, maybe he could catch Fienrir's attention. He was arrested by a stranger.

"I saw what happened, I know a secret way in... Care to join?"

"Please! Show me the way!"

"With pleasure, whoops! Looks like we gotta run!" Both Hylean and Edward ran toward Varrock East Bank, taking a sharp turn, they jumped down a manhole.

"Roald, you had to get the crowd going, huh?"

"I can' help it. Everyone loves you. Now get up there!" Roald pushed him so he was visible, the roars of the crowd quacking the ground.

"Hello, all! I also welcome back the soldiers, returning from the war! and---" Fienrir stopped, looking down at the gaurds shoving their way through the crowd at a small figure. Ed?! "Hey, stop!" Fienrir jumped.

"Fienrir!" Roald held a hand out for him, but Fienrir didn't even acknowledge it. The crowd started to scream, as Fienrir gracefully landed on the ground (Although leaving a giant pothole in the ground). He started to shove his way through the crowd, most of the girls sighing with excitment, some of the men trying to stop the gaurds.

"OW!" Fienrir slammed into a cloaked boy, knocking him to the ground. "What's your problem?"

"I'm sorry!" Fienrir pulled the boy up. "But I can't talk, those gaurds are after my pupil!"

Fienrir jumped down and heard the scuffle of his pupil and followed after the sounds, forcing his alter ego down.

The fight was inevitable, and they stood off for a moment.

"So you babysit now, its been too long, the wars were not kind at all."

"No less kinder than I'll be to you if you don't give him back!"

"Certainly, for a fight!"

Edward ran off, taking refuge behind Fienrir, looking for his bow and arrows.

"I have orders to kill you Fienrir! I have a couple debts to repay by killing you!"

"Since when have I ever been kind to traitors to his people! City! Family!"

Hylean and Fienrir slammed their blades together, they tried to keep out of close range and fought with the end of their blades. They fought long, hard, they locked weapons and the halberd gave way, and slid down the blade's length.

Hylean attempted to cut Fienrir with his dagger, almost catching him. "Have to do better than that!" He whacked the halberd up and slid his blade into Hylean's chest. Taking it out, he awaited the reaction of his adversary.

"Don't think this is over! Teleport to Falador!" he showed the runes in between his fingers and disappeared.

Hylean, feeling some kind of weird nostalgia, felt that this was merely one more wound. Alexia and Ranguvar would be pleased.

Chapter 20: The festival

Panting after the long battle, Fienrir glanced at Ed. "It seems your parents haven't taught you to not follow strangers! Idiocy like that shall get you killed!" Ed bowed his head in shame.

"I'm sorry, Fienrir."

"C'mon, you must get back to that ceremony. You go. That man isn't the only one with greater magics. Teleport to Falador!" With a flash, he was beginning to dissipate---But was quickly reformed. Blast, he must have used a block magic spell! Sneaky man...Thus he climbed out of the sewers.

The cheers of the crowd were bigger than ever. Many of the younger women went to see him, Fienrir trying to push his way through. He never actually liked being an idol, nor a hero. He was also worried of the man that he knocked to the ground. he broke through the crowd of grls, taking refuge in a nearby bar.

"Tell me," the bartender asked "Are you Fienrir?"

"Indeed."

"The king sent word, I have a room already, do enjoy.

-Hylean-

Hylean felt massive amounts of blood flow out of his body, it was a great wonder his heart had not been destroyed, either by the trauma, or the teleport so quick after the wound, but no matter, he needed help, and only two people he knew would give it to him.

This teleportation, hampered by the lost concentration, was slow, and he nearly passed out before he arrived. Keeping it together for a few more seconds, he threw his dagger through the second floor window, they would come out. And he became unconscious.

Hylean was in pain, he knew he would be. But he could not let his sister, or Alexia, know. He was no longer a fighter as he once was, for now. To alleviate the problem, he elected to escort them to the Varrock Fair. They wanted him to stay and heal, but he refused.

He could not be trusted to teleport to varrock with others so they had to walk, and he bore it quietly. It was the night of the first day of the festival, they arrived at night (having started at lunch, he had awoke in morning.) and rented a room. It was a pity for him not to meet Fienrir and his apprentice, he wished to have an ale and ask for forgiveness, but was he really sorry?

Alexia, he realized, was talking to him. "Can we go see the dances? Are you listening? Oh, I know you have a horrible wound, but that doesn't give you an excuse to ignore me."

"Argh! Please! Don't stroke the chest! Sorry... Now? Sure, but I can't dance, I'll be on the side lines. would you join me?"

"Of course I will, we've been separated for so long I just love being together!"

"Uhn... I think your enthusiasm for doing things together will be the death of me..."

And away they went, his sister had volunteered to stay. Hylean only really made it (barely) to the doorway, and fell asleep on a couch that were laid out or the weary dancers.

Certain temple knights of standing were there and made sure that he was left alone, perhaps they had remorse? Alexia also, invited by the peace that was on him fell asleep on him. Lost in the comfort of one another. His sister, however, made a new friend.

Fienrir danced with the beautiful young woman. It was late, but everyone enjoyed themselves, releasing their pain and misery by dance. Fienrir thought the girl was unbelievable at dancing, very graceful and rough...Reminded him of the man he battled not long ago. But he didn't care; he was dancing, having the time of his life, drinking. What could go wrong?

"I want you to meet my brother! You would get along great!" Fienrir smiled, only having enough to say: "Okay!" To his surprise, she gave him a kiss, and she grabbed his hands and tugged him along back to the small bar.

"You've been staying here?" Fienrir exclaimed.

"Of course! We have to have some place to stay when there's a week long festival, silly!" Fienrir could tell she fell in love with him; he felt the same about her. He didn't want to get too serious, though. She loved him, but would he love her? Would he stop?

"Wait here." She ran upstairs, while the young Edward slowly walked towards him. He's hammered! Either that, or a hangover! Fienrir thought, chuckling quietly.

"Damn...I'm really sick..."

"Did you get us a ro-" She came down stairs, and he saw him.

The assassin.

"What? That's your brother?!"

"You know him?" She turned to her brother. He made no response. "Ed, come behind me." Fienrir jerked Ed behind his back, drawing his sword out.

"What! No please!" The girl began to cry.

"No, sis! I got to do this!" He tried to tug his dagger out, but she stopped him. Fienrir withdrew his sword.

"She's right. I cannot fight you...Your sister is beautiful, and she is right. If I kill you, then I am no better than the barbarians..." His sister came over and hugged him. Fienrir looked up: "Let's start over." He held out his hand.

Hylean took it, at least, this time, he would not have to fight an enemy like him again. His sister, for all her dreams, had found the best warrior in the world.

Chapter 21: Forgiveness Given

It felt good, to be forgiven... in all the turmoil of his life, the hatreds he had began and ended, forcibly. Everything else that tormented his dreams, slowly slipped from him into oblivion. Hylean slept soundly and long, and woke up late the next morning, completely recharged, after all, the new day awaited, and it was festival week!

Hyelan spent the next day, wandering the stalls with Alexia, his sister was With Fienrir. The market was crowded with performers and all else, after nearly getting run down by a guy in a highwayman mask, he sent Alexia off to see to her own business, he needed to be alone for this part. He then met with some temple knights, who still wanted him to kill Fienrir, he was armed and refused. They were angry at him for refusing, saying something about the fate of the world.

"I'm more of a danger than he is! What kind of plan have you got anyway?" He replied. They were silent and motioned for him to leave.

He left feeling angry, what were they to order him about? HE was a random card again! that was not good his plans, security, his future, what were they now? He knew he was beginning to reap the fruits of his labors. Come what may, he and his loved ones would survive! He swore upon his weapons, too many comrades had died for him to sleep completely sound.

Hylean, exhausted from running around with Alexia fell asleep, this time, on Alexia's shoulder, she too had fallen asleep. Quietness pervaded the room.

Outside, Fienrir was again dancing with Ranguvar, Hylean sister It was a simple dance, she was laughing, her brother was healing so fast! She was having the time of her life.

Past a portal that hid in the shadow of a dark castle in the highest part of the wilderness, a dark group was planning the destruction of the world, or the subjugation there-of if all else failed. Varrock would be the first campaign.

Zacon, once a general of Zamorack, was sent with an army of darkness to assault the city and burn it. No survivors were permitted. He gathered his forces and moved out, and were there by the third day of the festival, but did not attack. He first must find out what the strength of Varrock, and what that familiar smell was.

----

The end of the second night of the festival.

Fienrir was carrying Ranguvar on his back as Hylean carried Alexia. As the week-long festival would continue, Fienrir knew he would get a workout; Ranguvar was a very good dancer. Hylean looked worn out, too. He was healing miraculously!

"Hylean?" Fienrir quietly asked, so he would not awaken the girls.

"Yes?"

"That higher power you were talking about...Ordered you to kill me...Well, now that you refuse to, what will they do to you?"

"Good question," Hylean sighed "I don't really know the consequences, since I always followed direct orders."

"Well," Fienrir glanced at Alexia and Ranguvar "I hope they don't attempt to kill you...Nor the girls. Either way, it would be tragic. I don't want the girls to be hurt, as I don't want you to be slain by blood thirsty savage men."

"Well said. I think I see the inn."

"Hylean, just remember, I will always protect you and the girls, until death. You are a great man, who deserves more than friends; I guess that's why Saradomin, or Guthix, or whomever you believe in, blessed you with these girls." They entered the inn, the usual going on inside; drunk men on the bar, but something was very unusual; Ed sat on one of the couches...Sober!

"Ed...You are usually drunk by this time of night..." Fienrir tried not to laugh, unsuccessfully, as he let out a soft chuckle.

"Laugh all you want...But you should have seen what I did!" Ed briefly explained what he did for the man. "I never thought I could do that!"

"Well, when you put your mind to it, you can basically do anything. Well, Fienrir and I have to put the girls in bed."

"See you back at the room, Ed." Fienrir threw the key back at him.

"Listen, Fienrir...Thank you. You've enkindled in me what I never thought would be rekindled within me; Friendship."

"What are you talking about?" Fienrir placed Ranguvar onto the bed softly, "Alexia and your sister are always with you."

"Yes...But I'm talking of the friendship between others...After seven long years." Seven? Fienrir thought to himself.

"Seven years ago...signaled the end of the Twilight war!"

"You catch on quick." Hylean chuckled.

"I thought I knew you, somehow. How 'bout a beer or ale tomorrow night; we can discuss the past then."

"Great!" Hylean grinned.

"Well, good-night, Hylean."

"Good-night, Fienrir."

Chapter 22: The Beginning of the End

Hylean again sat with Fienrir on the next day, they both had drunk an ale, and Hylean, deeming the time proper, began to tell his story.

"I am the son of the Seer of Camelot, a month after my eighteenth birthday, I ran away from home. I thought to settle in Falador, but a hideous and disgusting monster forced me to leave. I became a soul-stealer, and joined your expedition into the now-named wilderness. If you remember the person who destroyed a hundred troops in a single attack, that was me."

"I thought you were familiar..."

"I was then sent out of the Saradominist army and I joined Zamorack, but I fought and killed many there too. So I betrayed everyone... I feel like a fire, a flame, so confused it consumes without check or guard, drawn forward, but consuming everything in its path. I can't explain it. I was contacted by a secret sect of Temple Knights and I fought you. You nearly killed me and you know the rest."

"I know how you feel..."

"Only I know how I felt, and only I had the hurt of betraying everything I loved at one point or other. It is a tragic loss, that I can never fully be satisfied in peace, that Alexia's arms will chafe without something that purges me of this malfunctioning body. I want to die Fienrir, only three people kept me alive, Alexia, Ranguvar and my father, now you as well, for the happiness of my sister... Please, do not tell anyone what I told you. And you cannot understand what I have done, who I have killed..."

"Hylean!" "Fienrir!" From the upstairs came Ranguvar and Alexia, both well dressed and beautiful for walking around the fair with those who they loved most. Hylean smiled, Fienrir took a moment and looked at his face.

He says he's done so many terrible things, yet his face is not marked with murderers intent. He is not telling everything, and I don't think I want to know. He thought, he turned and smiled like Hylean. It felt horrible, to smile to someone so entwined with someone who has grown to hate life. He wondered what Ranguvar felt, and he would ask her.

-On top of Varrock Castle-

Zacon looked over the city. He spied the Hero... thought the knights were supposed to have killed him? No matter, he was more powerful... Three half-blood Majharrats... interesting. They smelt very, very familiar. Memories almost stirred in the evil ones brain, but a familiar click of heels chased them away.

"Report!"

"We failed to kill the hero, but you will find the guards celebrating with the masses quite easy to kill."

"Not good enough! Kill what you can! I want little resistance!"

"As you wish... and our request?"

"Which is!?"

"Er... you promised us King Roald as a soulless puppet to manipulate to our will."

"We'll do our best! Leave me!"

"... as you wish."

Those smells...? No matter, he would attack in the evening.

-Varrock Castle-

Alexia and Ranguvar had wanted to do something alone. So, Hylean and Fienrir were hanging around the castle.

"Are you sure he can be trusted?" Roald asked Fienrir, gripping the handle of his sword tightly.

"There isn't a doubt in my mind." Fienrir watched as Hylean teach Ed a couple of sword stances and defensive maneuvers. The cheers of the crowd were large, as many people saw the exciting spar, other's (such as Fienrir and Roald) overlooked it watching it with great interest.

"He is a very skillful man, indeed. Tell me Fienrir, who is the higher power of which he spoke. of?" Fienrir glanced at Roald, an angry look came upon his face, as he spat out:

"How did you even know? That was only mentioned around me; not around you nor anyone else."

"I have my sources. You forget, in the wars I was a skillful magician (yet not as great as you) whom knew how to mind read. I may be a warrior now, but magic is still my strong suit." Fienrir looked back down; Ed was learning really quick, and was swiftly and gracefully landing attacks. Fienrir sighed, and began:

"He didn't say were the higher power was, or were it came from. He said he didn't want to get me involved, for he thinks they might overwhelm me. If only he knew...What I was. What I am. He knew I fought in the wars, but he never knew what kind of power was within me. What still is in me. I feel as though I might have to go back to the wars to quell Aragrok's rage."

"No, Saradomin relies on you, as he did so long ago."

"He may rely on me, and everyone else wants to stop me...Hylean, I pray you will find what I truly am, before it's too late!" Ed parried another blow, then landed a great attack, nearly knocking Hylean off of his feet. They laughed, and the crowd joined in. "I'm going back to the bar. If Hylean asks were I went...Tell them at the hotel. If they took too long, then tell them I'm here." Fienrir pulled a map out, pointing out a location. "Got it memorized?"

Hylean again followed Alexia around, carrying her bags, the frequency of the shops mostly involving white dresses hinted at what she (and he) truly wanted. Hylean gave her a hug and told her after the next events, it would be so. He wished he could tell her more, all, but his sight was not fully grown yet, he did not wish to lie, And he hoped they would survive the days ahead.

Fienrir effortlessly escorted Ranguvar wherever she wanted to go; whether it was a womanly shop, or a food shop, Fienrir followed her, carrying her things, as he talked about the current things that have been going on. Surprisingly, even emotional talk was laid out, and Fienrir listened to all of her words.

"Well, what about you? Have any emotions you need to talk about?" Fienrir thought. Either I lie, or I talk about Argarok...Which one?

"Well, no. I'm happy being around you---My only emotion that runs through my mind all day." With a grin, she gingerly hugged him, as he saw Hylean walk around with Alexis. I better not bother them, he though.

"So, let's go, hey?" Fienrir picked up her bags. "Where to next?"

"I wanna stop back at the inn; best not stretch your muscles out."

"Stretch em' out?"

"C'mon." She tugged his hand (Which held a bag) as she lead him back to the room.

"Love is driving you, Fienrir." Ed held out an ale. "So, To you...For being a fool in love." He chugged own the beer.

"You better believe I'm lovesick; at least I'm not the one drinking his worries away."

"You will be. I invited you and Hylean to come back here tonight. Well, Hylean anyway. I couldn't reach you. Well, now you know." He finished up his ale, letting out a loud belch.

"Well, c'mon Ranguvar, I'll help you unload these. See ya tonight, I guess, Ed."

"At the bar, right?"

"Maybe; Ranguvar wants to stroll around. I doubt she drinks, but if she does, she better be able to join, got it?"

"Ya, ya." Ed picked up a beer.

"Good." As the bags unloaded, Fienrir grabbed Ranguvar's hand, as he took her through the town again. Who knows? He thought, Maybe I can find a game and win her a prize.

Hylean watched the setting sun Alexia was on his shoulder, admiring the new bow he had gotten her. "hmmmm... so nice and peaceful, but night falls and we must return to the bar... will we be going out tonight?"

"Maybe, if time allows, tell me..." he paused.

"What is it? Is it 'the sight'?"she gave him a hug.

"Yes... but would you still love me if I became something... terrible... something else, still me but... different in manner or form... but not... I can't word it but somethings gonna happen to me! And I'm worried that you will be hurt too, its 'the sight'! And its never wrong! I will change drastically, and you will follow... I don't want you hurt!"

"Its fate isn't it? don't worry! are we separated? no! wait I don't want to know anything about it, we'll take it as it comes, as always..."

Hylean bent his head, will that he might he could not command 'the sight' but what he could see, did not bode well for him!

Sun was beginning to set.

Ranguvar had a wonderful time, she had decided to go to bed early, as there were dancing contests to be done later, all night. Alexia joined her later on, but did not converse, as she seemed troubled. A new bow merely confirmed that, Hylean knew something as coming...

She felt chilled, it seemed a warm night so she went out to the balcony... and saw the flames of an advancing army!

-At the head of the invaders-

Zacon smiled, he finally remembered where he had smelt those people's smells. And he would love to have his revenge. Hylean... it would be the beginning of the end.

"Archers! Fire! Siege Weapons! End their existences!"

Chapter 23: Battle of Seers and Villains

Roald sent for Fienrir as soon as his guards cried that they were being attacked, but Fienrir did not answer, he had begun the battle already. The guards were afraid, where did this army come from? But Fienrir banished those fears they may had, no one could defeat Fienrir!

"Retreat to the bar in the West, I'll take it from here." Fienrir relieved the gaurds of their duty, as they ran off in satisfaction. The gate began to rumble. slowly, he walked over to the gaurd tower, knocking it down, completely blocking entry. That should hold 'em. He walked over to the next gate, which wasn't closed yet. This is were I expect them to invade.

"What are you doing!" Roald and Hylean ran towards Fienrir, "Idiot! What are you waiting for?"

"They'll come this way; I await them, so you both must take refuge!"

"This can't possibly be testosterone!" Hylean said. "I'm going to get Alexis and the others!" Fienrir stood by the main gates, not moving a muscle.

"Look, the gate is open!" Fienrir heard at the south gate. He ran towards it. Darn! Hylean came out with some warriors and Alexis, who strung her bow.

A red over coated figure emerged from the swirling dust and splinters from the shattered door.

"Ha! My name is Zacon! Prepare to die! Or! You could surrender to torture!"

Hylean and Fienrir both smiled, how many times had they heard that between them. Ranguvar and Alexia both looked defiantly at him. Alexia, yelling, fired an arrow at him.

"I've smelt you before! You're supposed to be dead! Cona!!"

Zacon, once Cona, smiled and summoned his dark spear, and reflected the arrow as if he didn't need to think about it.

"Once! Now I'm powerful! Shini!!!" He charged the foursome, wielding his spear like a double-bladed sword. Fienrir was repulsed from his counter-charge with an air attack, when Ranguvar appeared in his place, she had launched herself using Hylean's halberd!

Zacon faltered a second before readying the spear to stab her. But he forgot she had runic magics. Lines of earth flew up her arms in an powered up earth wave, flying into Zacon's face.

She rebounded using the force of the attack. Fienrir and Hylean both attacked at once, but Zacon, still reeling from Alexia's assault, was able to repulse them both. Alexia, however, had accurately judged where he would be and sent a rain of arrows toward his position. His eyes widened, but he went into overdrive, blocking the arrows as fast as she could send them toward him.

She stopped, Hylean and Ranguvar were above Zacon, Hylean used his halberd to fling her toward Zacon. He lifted his spear to protect himself, but it had been broken, and Fienrir smiled at him, his thrown sword lying out of reach of Zacon.

"FIRE WAVE!!!" Tendrils of fire slid up her arms and gathered in Ranguvar's palms and blasted into Zacon's face. He fell to the ground, panting.

Fienrir retrieved his sword. "Well, guess you were tougher than most of the villain's I've ever faced, but you still die."

Zacon smiled. "Reinforcements are here!"

"Poor, poor Zacon, aye? Zoume?"

"Aye! Poor Zacon indeed, Zoute?"

"Help me! Give me food! We'll kill them together!" Zacon cried out.

"Maybe maybe, Zacon, Sister?"

"We help him Sister?"

Zacon felt a rush of energy, Fienrir could not defend himself in time. "Zamorakian Destroyer!" Zacon fired a giant energy ball toward Alexia, Ranguvar and Hylean. Hylean charged ahead, readying his halberd, but Fienrir jumped in front of him, taking the full blast.

Ranguvar ran to him. "Fienrir!" He smiled and collapsed before Ranguvar could reach him.

Zacon barked what could only be a laugh, then turned to the twins Zoume and Zoute. "See! They crumble! Whaa!??" Zoume and Zoute had gotten their dark claws out and had gotten close to him. When he turned around, they plunged their arms into his chest.

"Poor poor Zacon, Eh Zoume?"

"True enough, Zoute, sister speaks truth."

"A pity one of the targets, and the primary one too, got away... Sister?"

"Aye! And Zacon to blame! Shall we sister? He is too hurt to fight!?"

"Aye! Sister!"

They ripped out their claws and let him fall. They were about to finish him when he started to laugh, and his army dissipated into the air. The twins screamed and killed Zacon.

"You were not our targets! Right, Sister?

"Aye! Sister? Let us go!" And they both disappeared.

And the battle was over, but Fienrir had run off while Zacon was dying, and he headed north, to the realm of Zamorak!

I've been following along, and you've done an excellent job, as usual. Can't wait to see what happens next! Oh, wait...Heh, we're following the RPG storyline, right... :anxious:

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

yeah, but modified a bit, it's already changed a little, but it will follow the key points.

So, let me get this straight. This was originally an RPG (Sephiroth was involved somewhere, right?) and now you've basically added your own prologue of sorts and then rewritten the RPG into one cohesive story. Am I right?

If this was an RPG, it flows pretty darn well. Nice job.

It was mainly about Archimage, SK, Izzy, and several others who predated your arrival here arguing over how it should be done. I really liked it, but well, it ended because Sephiroth King had to leave for somewhere and we were coming to the climax anyway...

Zalm shall arrive soon! Beware the dark ranger with insidious powers! I like him...

Anyway, last two-odd chapters! I shall now read Stratagem with relish!

Chapter 24: Fienrir

Fienrir had run off, with severe wounds. Alexia, Ranguvar and Hylean were sore from the battle, but were about to run after him. The Seer stopped them.

He was disheveled and wild looking, not unlike the look of a haunted man, for he was very haunted. He looked around as if reassuring himself that the blood was not of his own children. He then settled most disturbingly on Hylean and Alexia.

"I don't want you to go after him, your coming with me!"

"What?" Questioned Hylean.

"You know I have the "Sight", and I saw your death! Please! Don't drag her with you!"

"I know."

"You know?!? The purpose of Seers are to prevent future issues by taking care of them in advance! Slaying a youngling demon, or storing food for a famine. You think that your death will improve the world? What will it do to those who love you?"

"I trust they will go with me. You only saw one of two eventualities. The other breeds a lot of hope for the future, despite mine and Alexia's deaths!"

Alexia looked at him, her mind completely in turmoil. Die? As in to be separated in body forever, not being able to see the Hylean she loved...

"Madness!"

"Hope, something which you had, died with Mom a long time ago."

"That hurts."

"As will dissuading me right now. I will charge forward to the foreseen future. It will not change. Death is the end of my current chapter, not the entire book. There is one more."

"Very well, I cannot change your mind. I'm sorry."

"Don't be, nothing would change." The Seer looked on his son once more and teleported back to Camelot, where he would brood dark things, wrestling with the future.

He smiled his two friends. "Lets go, shall we?"

They ran after Fienrir after sending ahead Hylean's messenger Raven, Valevor. They stopped though, Roald had sent a messenger after them, he had a letter from Fienrir and the king.

"I had this written in case I would ever have to disappear, I know what I have to do, what I didn't do because I did not, but should known. Don't come after me."

And from Roald:

Dear Hylean,

Fienrir has left. I did not stop him. But hear me out, as you will learn some of the things of his past that he may not have told you. You see, Fienrir was one of the bravest of brave we've ever had, whom would risk life itself to save the one's he loved. Ranguvar is the one. Now, he chases the man whom escaped his grasp before he could slay him. I'm not speaking of the dark king; I speak of a might warrior of Twilight, whom corrupted the minds of his loved one's and nearly obliterated him.

Before that, he even had to slay one of his friends, whom had been corrupted by the forces of Twilight. His name was Vincent, as his name was written in history and will always be remembered as so. With all of this being said, don't think it is his testosterone level. No; it is mere courage. Courage to protect Alexis and Ranguvar and even you. Fienrir has always upheld frienship and love as a priority, and there is nothing you and I can do to stop that.

Lastly, whom he is pursuing. He is a man of the Vad'Idlien war's whom we do not speak; and I will not reveal this to you. He can tell you. I am no man of telling his secrets.

With all of this being explained, you can either help him, or keep pursuing the man in your own direction. For wither way, you will cross each other's destinies, and Fienrir will meet his destiny.

Your's Truly,

King Roald

They read these, then continued to travel after their comrade. He was wounded, but he was a hero! He would not be deterred, so Hylean and his friends ran and ran after him, trying to catch up before nightfall.

-Fienrir, far north of Varrock, Wilderness-

The raven flew gently upon Fienrir's injured arm. He had been traveling in the darkness of the wilderness for day's---Vad'Idliens horrible ruins. Maybe running from Hylean isn't the answer...But I have no choice. I don't want to get him tangled with this... So Fienrir pressed further, as dawn broke. The Twilit area he was contained in was strong, making his arm throb, as he heard Argarok's voice within him:

Why do you run? Even I'm becoming terribly weak, I'm acting nice to you!

That's not a good sign. Fienrir silently chuckled, as he rested and opened the note:

Fienrir,

What in the world are you trying to prove? Ranguvar isn't too happy with this. Nor am I or Alexia. Are you trying to prove you are a man? That you are strong? You won't win my sister over like this...But it's not just her, it's all of us. I'm worried about you, too. What if you die? What if you are dehydrated by the time we find you (And it won't be a very pretty sight if we find you)? The point is...Just pick an area to camp, we want to talk.

Your Friend,

Hylean

Nice letter. But I can't break this way. Fienrir thought, as he pulled a piece of parchment from his pack, then a quill, as he began to write:

Hylean,

I'm not trying to prove anything. Nothing at all, I'm not even trying to be a man. And if you want to know the truth about me, about the full intent of my destiny and my past...Then I will discuss it with you in person...With Alexia and Ranguvar...Anyway, the man I'm tracking...I've fought him, somewhere, some place...But he seems to be---stronger. I fear I don't have enough stamina

Fienrir felt light headed, as he collapsed, and the raven snatched the letter, flying back to Hylean's distant location.

-Hylean+co-

It was night, but they had not yet caught up with Fienrir, in the Wilderness, that was once the lands of twilight... they were waiting for dawn.

Hylean took the watch, and made sure that nothing came to disturb them. Alexia woke up later, Hylean was trying hard to remember something, his face was all screwed up in his attempts. His face returned to its usual pallor, then sighed.

"Come on Alexia, you know I know when someone is no longer sleeping. What do you need?"

She got up slowly and sat beside him. "You know. You... said we would die."

"That..."

"This is going to be bad! Were just calmly accepting our fate, without even trying to..."

"What? Its not that I saw anyone pass on to the next realm or anything."

"But he said we would die. You agreed."She lowered her head and turned it at an angle where her hair covered her expressions, but her voice cracked. "It has been so long since we swore our love for each other! So long we have waited! So long you've had to kill to get to this point."

She leaned down, leaning her head against his chest. "I don't care how it ends! I once did, but a talk with your father once changed that! I just want to know about the present! What are we going to do after this stinking war! I want you to settle down, and you too want this! To be married!"

Hylean laid his head against hers, she didn't have to look up to see his expression, or know what he was doing. "Do not assume that I ever wanted to postpone the marriage, or when I had to cancel it! Only you truly know all my emotions. Its time I told th..."

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT I WANT YOU!!!!" She had unfortunately shouted this, a moment of awkward silence ensued. Hylean hugged her to himself tightly, letting himself fall asleep on her shoulder, and she let him. He needed it. She really did care about the future, but Hylean could see it. She would have to trust him, like she once did, for seven years.

They found Fienrir and dragged him into a nearby cave. He was unconscious, but his wounds were relatively superficial, sleep would have healed him.

-Castle ruins, Zamorak-

The lord of chaos sat disquietly on his throne, Zalm, servant of the mysterious but powerful Roas was the reason.

"Zalm is most displeased with Zamorak, as is Zalm's master, Empty Lord Roas."

"I understand, but I am not at fault for one of your general's weakness."

"Even Zamorak speaks respectfully to Zalm, servant of Empty Lord Roas. Roas wishes Zamorak to send forces throughout Zamorak's fief. Zalm will be here, any and all person's found who are not Zamorak's servants to be left alone, but their location's to be given to Zalm. Zamorak is not to touch them, or else Empty Lord Roas will be displeased. That is all."

"As you wish..." (aside) "You stinking excrement of an ill Vampire bat with rabies! You illegitimate son of a G.A.G. pig herder! You..."

"Is Zamorak muttering against Zalm's health?"

-The cave-

"We were very fortunate to find this place..." The relieved voice of Hylean echoed in the cave. "If anything, they will attack the front of Edgeville, killing off it's only defenses and destroying the troops that inhabit it." He sighed.

"I don't think Fienrir will wake anytime soon, either..." Alexia sighed. "But we can't give up hope just yet. The only thing we can do is pray and wait for his revival. Until then, we're stranded here."

"But we don't even have enough food to last us a week!" Ranguvar said sorrowfully. "Please, brother, try to wake him up!" Fienrir heard Ranguvar's plea; he couldn't feel any of his muscles, but he listened intently to the rest of the conversation.

"If Saradomin, or Guthix, or whomever roams the heavens---if they don't will it, then what's the use?" Hyleans exasperated voice rung through the cave like a hummingbirds fluttering wing. Fienrir became angered at this remark:

"Hylean...If they don't will it? You should be saying if I don't will it." He opened his eyes, instantly adjusting to the dim-lit darkness of the cave, Ranguvar smiling and weeping at the same time, and Hyleans face lit up and happy, as was Alexia's.

"Fienrir..." Hylean walked over to the small fire they had built, giving warmth and light. Ranguvar hugged Fienrir, Hylean not suprised. "What happened?"

"What has happened to me has already happened to me...What was past is now past, and there is no more to be said. But Hylean, I feel as though my truthfullness towards all of you isn't being truthfull enough, so I must say what I need to say...Then, I will rest." So Fienrir began his long story, his tale of the war, Tiresias the prophet, he being the Advent...He being Guthix. After, everyone was astounded.

"You...Are Guthix?" Hylean exclaimed.

"Partially. Only when my God form will's it; otherwise, no."

"And what of Fenrir?" Hylean asked.

"Fenrir?" Fienrir said. "He's my angelic form, but everything I told you must be figured out by you. Now, I shall rest; you put the pieces together." So he layed back down, as Hylean and the two girls were left with pieces to a jigsaw puzzle; one that may or may not be easily solved.

.........

.........

.........

Accurately described the trio's reaction. They excused themselves, and went farther into the cave.

Hylean was most vocal about his surprise."What do you think of it, he tells us he's a god, not just any god, Guthix, and a demon, and a wolf!"

Alexia, having seen Hylean at his worst, was less skeptical. "You doubt him?"

Hylean:"Alexia, I don't know what makes sense... these past days are so hectic."

Ranguvar was clearly on Fienrir's side, and most decidedly in favor of whatever Fienrir decided to do "We must help him brother, we are powerful in our own rights! And..."

Hylean: "We know, sis, Alexia and I know your feelings we felt the same when we first met."

Alexia: "Yes Ranguvar, we feel a different sort, but it is still love, a self-sacrificing love."

Fienrir lifted himself a bit. "You lot are the worst whisperers I have seen yet!"

The trio, embarrassed, finished their discussion in more quiet terms.

Meanwhile, Zalm had discovered the location of their secret cave, he merely awaited his convenience.

Chapter 25: Finishing Death

Zalm finally judged the time right. Hylean and company did not post a guard outside, Zalm could move as he wished. He walked in calmly, holding his special short bow. It was made of darkness, and could shoot multiple arrows at once. This, plus other abilities made him the most feared of the minions of Roas.

"Hmmmm...? What is this? Does Zalm see an undefended body? OOhhh... Zalm does..." He lifted Fienrir who had fallen back into unconsciousness.

"Put him down!!" Yelled Hylean, who was already charging the villain. Drawing his weapons, he prepared to attack.

"As you wish, Majharrat!" He threw Fienrir past him, Hylean was too slow and turned as he tried to figure out what to do. When he turned around, he found Zalm aiming at Fienrir, Alexia and Ranguvar, as the two had caught Fienrir.

"Say your goodbyes to those you love!" He fired.

Fienrir had woken up and struggled to get in front of the girls, but Hylean beat him to it. "Bye bye babies!" He smiled as he was impaled several times.

Perfect! Zalm thought to himself. He ran next to Hylean and picked him up before the others could reach him. "If you want him, you had better arrive at the far northern castle. You know what is there, in the shadow of the wall, where the sun never shines!" Zalm laughed as he faded away.

-Outside the cave, and far away-

The castle was dark, and looked evil. [bleep]ed crenelations jutted out at random, there was no method, except cruelty, that went into its building. One section of the wall was pitch black, there was no light in it, and everything that had light was absorbed into it.

Zalm arrived at the darkness and checked Hylean. Good! He was still alive! He ran into the portal that was hidden by that all-consuming darkness, he had executed his plan perfectly! Hylean would die, but not before he had arrived in the world where the sun never shone.

-the cave-

Fienrir rushed out, attempting to find the man, but he was gone. Alexia was inconsolable, refusing the shoulder of Fienrir, which was offered, and Ranguvar accepted it in her stead.

Alexia preferred only one man's shoulder, and he was beyond her reach for a long time. In her mind she wondered why. Why? He said no one was going to die, just change, why? He was so sure of himself, why did this reality hurt, more because her lover lied than he had died?

Ranguvar stood in dumb silence for a mere second... Alexia feeling as if she was torn by dogs... And Fienrir, realizing that he had lost a good friend and powerful ally... showed their sorrow. They wept and stood or sat in wordless noise, trying to pull themselves together, which, they inevitably had to do.

They left the cave and headed north, Fienrir finding this place more and more familiar and evil despite the absence of evil minions. They arrived at the castle with little resistance. Until they saw Zalm.

"Your friend is finally dead. If you die in a certain realm, you become something much different. Something more powerful than the original. Zalm am someone who had that happen to them. Zalm was once called 'rapid-fire' Mal. That was a hundred years ago. Zalm died and Zalm got more powerful." Zalm summoned his twilit bow to his hand. "Now, please give Zalm the honor of combat."

The very second he finished speaking arrows passed out his body and into the wall, Alexia already aiming her next volley. Fienrir ran up, brandishing his sword, Zalm dodged, so that the flat of the blade slammed into his chest, knocking him down. Alexia shot arrows into the air and they fell into Zalm's joints, causing him to be immobile.

Ranguvar walked up to him, her hands glowing with a barely controlled fire wave. "You have seconds to tell us where he is."

"Zalm did say that he was dead in that realm."

"Wrong answer!" Ranguvar released it, killing Zalm. Was that a smile?

Fienrir patted her shoulder, Alexia, using instinct from her heritage as Majharrat, found the portal to the sunless world.

It was a sunless world, the shattered remnant of what was a moon once shone too brightly, so that it was an over cast sky. Great skyscrapers were everywhere, some showing entire floors missing... but it was strangely clean. As if someone with a big broom had swept it away to a great dustbin. Not a single piece of rubble was on the ground, all the damage was in the buildings.

The sky was the strangest, the moon was gone. It had been shattered, as if someone had taken a mace to a giant glass ball. It also shone with a brilliance that was twice that of the moon in Gielnor, lighting the eerie city.

Then, walking toward the trio without any real cares, Zoume and Zoute, laughing, appeared.

"Hey sister! It is those two girls we met earlier!"

"Aye sister! And look! It is that half breed hero! Who knows what he is inside! With such strange look in his soul!"

"Kya ha ha ha! True sister! But now let us let those weaklings follow us to the secret area! Or maybe we should fight?"

"Kee hee hee hee! Lets fi-"

Zoute did not finish her sentence. An air wave had knocked her down. Zoume looked away for a second and was hit by arrows. Fienrir attempted to stab Zoume, but Zoute got in the way, blocking the sword with her claws. "Sister! Tell Father our guests have arrived!"

"Aye sister!"

Zoume started running away, Alexia and Ranguvar followed at Fienrir's bidding. Zoume, knowing that she was being followed, ran straight for one of the biggest towers on the landscape. Fienrir noted the direction and turned his attention to Zoute, who jumped away, running in a different direction. Sighing, he ran after her.

Fienrir, now quite tired of chasing, saw an opportunity and threw his sword, skewering Zoute through the back. He ran to the tower was and went in. It was an empty, ghostly building, full of sounds and ancient thoughts. Fienrir, who was feeling quite out of place, felt creeped out. There was an empty desk in front of the door; a row of lockers occupied the next room. He ran from room to room until he found the two girls.

Eventually, he heard breathing and quiet sobs. Ranguvar was outside a door, on her knees, weeping into her elbow. She heard him and looked up, happiness spreading across her face like a rainbow, but it was still raining.

"We found his body, it was all cut up, Alexia is in there now, she wants a moment alone."

Fienrir nodded and sat down next to her, lending her his shoulder. Suddenly, he punched repeatedly until he was knocked out. Ranguvar, shocked by who it was, was similarly knocked unconscious.

Alexia, still alone and sad over her lover's body, did not hear the footsteps. A whisper in her ear felt over powering to her. Was this madness? Was he back? What was he saying that she felt she had to do, what was its meaning? She wildly thought, half-overjoyed at the sound, half driven insane by its intangibility.

"Come, my love, if you wish to join me... come." She obeyed the voice. Outside the sunless realm and into the twilight. A soldier was there, a mere spear man. He had felt drawn there, but then he saw the defenseless looking woman. He took the opportunity and killed her with one thrust. A shadow, a sunless shadow, appeared next to him, and slew him with a blow from a halberd.

The sunless shadow hurried back to a certain room that he had been in merely five minutes before and waited... how much would she grow? would she know what he did? would she be angry? would she... he banished the thoughts as the loved one known as Alexia fell into his arms.

Fienrir woke up, his head, being caressed by Ranguvar. He could feel that he was very puffy in the face... he could also feel that Ranguvar had kissed each bruise. Both felt familiar but different presences and looked up. Two figures, side by side, male and female, as close as husband and wife, were looking at them, were they smiling?

"Well, I told my father no one would die..."

"You don't have a physical body!" Fienrir pointed out.

"Semantics... semantics... we've killed Roas, but there are things here best left locked." The shadow of Hylean spoke.

"I'm Alexia, in case you haven't noticed." The woman shaped shadow waved to the.

Ranguvar replied with bewilderment. "... We kinda figured, you're the only one he would spend eternity with." Ranguvar knew that she should feel sad that her brother and best friend had died, but she had somehow accepted that they wouldn't see each other much. Fienrir was all confused.

"Well, see you two, love yah! And don't forget to stay together as much as possible. If you can outlast, it can feel like you will be together for eternity!" They disappeared into the mists that had begun to form

The living pair walked out, the moon had faded. It looked sad and bleaker in a way that matched their moods.

Fienrir decided to take a practical approach. "I guess we should leave and seal this world. You know how to right? I must say, that spaced out expression is pretty cute."

"My best friend and brother died!"

"But they're still here. I think... We should move on. I don't think they would like you to discontinue joking... inappropriateness aside."

Fienrir and Ranguvar laughed, they decided in their hearts that they would not mourn long.

It's Xewleer: ZEW le ar, got it memorized?

Hermit of the Varrock Library and its proud guard.

I think the finish could really have used some more in-depth details and more thorough treatment. I understand it is not your style to describe setting in great detail, if at all, but the end definitely would have been better if you had done that. It felt rushed and flashed through everything so quickly that i I had no idea what the hell had happened when I reached the end. That's where lingering on descriptions and more words in general are beneficial. The reader is allowed some time to process what is going on and understand what you are writing. I definitely would have liked to see a better and more vivid picture painted of this 'sunless world,' besides just saying "they went into the sunless world, which was sunless. . . " (not verbatim, just what I remember.) I wouldn't hurt to play up the drama of their entrance, either. You gave the entrance into a parallel dimension, where I assume all the antagonists are coming from, one line.

Overall the story was good, but looking back I think that even your style could permit some more meat on the bones of the story. It would certainly make some aspects less confusing. You have a great story here, but you need to work on the way in which it is conveyed. The core essences of a story you seem to have grasped pretty well, you just need to polish up your writing. Dramatize where appropriate, expand on an important setting, probe deeper into the feelings of your characters to help the reader identify with and care about them. Do these things, and your plot will be enhanced and solidified into an extremely good and solid story that will suck the reader in effortlessly.

Anyway, congratulations on finishing this, it was quite a ride. =D>
