It's truth depends on the context you take it in

 

 

 

Literally speaking it does not lower the points

 

 

 

HOWEVER

 

 

 

Defenders get points by luring the runners to traps.

 

 

 

If the runners are killed before they can reach the traps it means defence points are not received for them.

 

 

 

So killing runners with the cannon means you receive a lower amount of points you would get for killing runners "normally"

It's probably due to confusion with the normal operating mode of a cannon.

 

 

 

IIRC, cannons give 0 HP exp and only half of the normal Range exp, HitDone*2

 

Instead of the "normal" Hitdone*4
