Welcome to the wonderful world of Maging Iron and Steel Dragons

Well I have recently decided to go on a metal owning spree and bought a bunch of slayer darts and so I decided to teach some other people how to kill them by maging as well as some statistics.

The Guide that beats all other guides(except for pretty much every guide cause this one might stink since I haven't ever really made a guide, oh well here goes)

[hide=Equipment]Equipment:

This is my preferred set up:

magemetalsoutfityx1.png

Best to Worst(For the void you must have full for it to be good)

3rd Age Mage Hat>Ahrims Hood>Infinity Hat>Healer Hat>Farseer>Void Mage Hood

God Cape>God Cloak>Obby Cape>Achievement Cape>Legends Cape

3rd Age Mage Ammy>Fury>Glory>Mage ammy

No Arrows Required

Slayer Staff

Ahrims Top>3rd Age Mage Top>Infinity Top>Enchanted Top>Mystic Top>Void Top

Dragon Fire Shield> Anti Dragon Shield

Ahrims Skirt>3rd Age Mage Skirt>Infinity Skirt>Enchanted Skirt>Mystic Skirt>Void Skirt

Barrows Gloves>Dragon Gloves>Rune Gloves>Mystic Gloves>Void Gloves

Infinity Boots>Wizard Boots>Mystic Boots

Ring of Wealth>Ring of Life[/hide]

[hide=Getting there]How to get there:

My personal favorite way to get to metals is to board a boat to brimhaven from ardougne and then proceed to the dungeon by this path. Be sure to grab a bronze axe on the way.

maptodragonsoa7.png

You then go through the dungeon to the metals following this route

What to do:

Its pretty simple once you're down there. You just drink an anti fire pot and start maging the dragons, steels or irons, i prefer steels. You kill it, pick up the drop, kill another one and continue to do this, drinking a dose of anti fire whenever it runs out and you start getting hit by the fire. If you're not paying attention you may get hit a bit by fire if anti fire runs out. You just eat a shark to get your health back up a bit. Once you are out of anti fire, food, or runes, just tele and once you're restocked, come right back down.[/hide]

[hide=Using Fire Bolt]Fire Bolting:

Another wonderful way to kill metals is with fire bolt. It is not quite as good exp but it is a good bit cheaper. To do this you simply replace your slayer staff with a fire or air staff. You also replace your death runes with chaos runes and your mind runes with fire or air runes, whichever staff you don't have. And also, it is very wise to change you're gloves to chaos gauntlets.[/hide]

[hide=Helpful Hints]Helpful Hints:

Well I'd just bring a house teletab, recharge prayer (if you used some) and then use ardougne portal.

1 extra space can be worth it sometimes

Do these guys have any good dragon drops?

Also, Farseer has the same Mage Attack Bonus as Ahrim's Hood and doesn't degrade so it's actually better to use.

When you tele to Ardy, stealing cakes are great for fast free healing and if you go to the chapel anyway to recharge your prayer, just stop by the general store and buy an Iron Axe. Saves you some walking. And since you have so much free inventory to start, Energy/Super Energy Potions will get you there quicker and safer since you can run past the wild dogs, fire giants, and black demons.

Also might want to note the nook just Northwest of END on your map. This is a great safe spot to pot up and switch to auto-cast. And it's helpful for if you get a Sandwhich Lady or Dr Jeckyll random since Dragon Fire makes them almost impossible to talk to.

For Steel Drags

If you want to max out xp per hour bring 20 rune javs with you and about 200-300 nats

Alc the javs between spawns. I norm get 2-3 alcs per spawn on full world 4-5 on mid world.

Trust me you will get plenty Rune Javs when Maging Steels

240 each alc

So you do not lose much and helps with xp and cheaper then buying Yew Longs.. and also you control your randoms! (Well for most part that is)

just something I found got me an extra 2-10k xp per hour

I also bring 20-100 laws for telegrab.. I hate when I go to grab the loot and an Iron wastes my time

Use air Staff since Fires are cheaper and ez to get form slayer

interested on the price of runes with new update on store price

I tend to bring Rune axes now since I have got 20 banked ( I alc soon as I get another drop or need room.

Iron axe also works gr8 (Berr beat me to it)

I also bring 6x Sara (4) and 2x restore (4)

More food for less room.

[/hide]

[hide=Statistics]Statistics:

All of the following statistics are using slayer dart at 89 mage with the equipment and inventory shown higher up in my guide. This is killing only iron dragons to reduce bias. Also my attack style is set to defence exp for this so part of it goes to defence and not all mage. I didn't mean to do this but I didn't realize until much later and I couldn't change it by then.

so maging in ahrims is better then void by the looks of it?

Whats with the empty spaces, may as well bring more anti-fires so you dont have to restock you big narb.

Also the anti-fire pots last exactly 6mins i think so after awhile you get used to the right time to pot up.

pretty cool guide though.

(but ranging thems better)

Get any gd stuff btw?
