Farming Question

Ok my farming level is 61 and I am want to raise it to 70. I am planning to use fruit trees, yews and herbs.

What kind of fruit trees should I buy from players and should I buy the payments too?

I want to plant yew trees but at my level, will it get diseased easily with super compost? Should I buy the payments (10 cactus spines) too?

Thank you.

Definatly Pay the gardners to look after the yews for you. It will save countless trees and help stop global warming.

Good luck with the farming. :P

DONT pay the farmer, unless you have a bunch of money to waste/really really want all the xp possible.

As yews have a very low mortality rate, like 1 in 10 i belive maybe more, it simply isnt cost effective to pay out that many cactus spines, much better to sell them and just buy 1 or 2 extra seeds.

Lvl 46 farming? Bad advice.

DO pay the farmer. 20+ hours is a long time to wait just to find your tree is dead while you were logged out.

Many payments cost buttons such as pineapples and you should grow your trees and fruit trees in such an order that they'll provide payments for the next tree you intend to grow.

Just buy the best seeds you can, it's slow enough without slowing it down further. And tbh, I think the mortality rate is low enough that you can not worry about the payments. I've had two trees die on me (even though I've only got 51 farming, this is still around one in thirty-ish), so it's really not worth it to me.

Plant the best trees you can.

I wouldn't pay the farmers, I check when I'm about to go to bed and before I go to school and they almost never die.

Good Luck.

Plant the best ones, or 2nd best ones you can, and pay the farmers if you have the payment handy. I farm my own cactus spines, pineapples, papayas etc anyway and use those for payments.

I don't pay for low level trees, but do for the ones that will get me 5k+ xp.

Lot's of really bad advice here.

Always pay the farmers for all trees. Last thing you want is to spend 60k on a tree and for it to die. The payments are NOT hard to get. Stock up on apples and tomatoes at the Culinecromancers Chest. Banana's are right at the Karamaja glory teleport. Pineapples from that guy in Catherby. Cactus spines are easily obtained yourselves.

I would also not bother buying seeds. I get seeds by putting 1.4 million in the MTK minigame. Get 100% favour then set the flax to full and the maples to 50%. Now every week put in another 525k and get your favour back to 100% (takes about 3 minutes). You will get approx 9k flax, 3.5k maples and 30 birds nests. Most of the nests will have tree seeds in (few will have rings/eggs). You can easily sell the flax/maples to get 900k+ back weekly, meaning your seeds are free.

Do a tree run once a day. If you run out of seeds, buy oaks/apples cheaply. Do as many allotment runs as you can. I suggest buying a vast amount of cabbage seeds (cheap and common) for use in 3 plots. The other plot use watermelons/sweetcorn/strawberries (suggest Catherby due to close proximity to bank). Always pay the farmer to look after strawberries as no plant protects them. As for herbs use the highest seeds you have. If you are planting Ranarr or Snapdragon then I suggest only using one seed at a time and using an amulet of nature to ensure you get best use of your seeds. Don't worry about bushes or hops.

Here are my "runs":

TREES (I drop logs and roots (cept yew and mage roots) and keep fruit)

Start Catherby (Fruit/Bank)

Tele to Lumby (Tree)

Tele to Fally (Tree)

Run to Taverly (Tree)

Tele to Varrock (Tree)

Run to spirit tree, take tree to Gnome Village (Fruit)

Run back to spirit tree, take tree to Gnome Stronghold (Fruit/Bank/Tree)

Tele to Ardy, run to docks, sail to Brimhaven (Fruit)

Run to Calquat Patch(Very very rare, take extra cammy tele runes if you have Calquat as Carter Ships are not an option)

Which then leads on to:

ALLOTMENT (I keep sacks of cabbages for some reason so tend to bank)

Carter ship to Catherby, buy pineapples for super compost.(Bank) (Allotment/Super Compost/Bank)

Run to Ardy (Allotment)

Glory to Draynor (Bank/Belladonna/Allotment)

Duel Ring to Al Kharid (Cactus/Bank)

Ecto to Canafis (Allotment/Bank/Mushroom)

The allotment run can be tailored to suit your farming level and if you keep the produce. For example if you don't keep produce nor can farm Belladonna then you should just Glory to Draynor/allotment/Ecto to Canafis. No need to bank nor visit the belladonna patch.

More advanced farmers can get bushes/hops patches included in various runs, but I honestly don't think the casual farmer should bother with them. I only include belladonna/cactus/mushroom as they are on route (belladonna/mushroom) or give me a chance to bank (cactus).
