Ok, i was trying to go onto internet explorer last night (good thing i have netscape!) and for some reason, it wont let me on. I says i have done an illegal operation, and then another window comes up saying:

 

 

 

And error has occoured in IE, Ie will now shut down. if you continue to expericen problems, restart your computer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now this is very weird becase it only started last night. Also, when i try and open up folders, it wont let me, becase it says i have done an illegal operation...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i have run a spyware shearch and dystroyed all the spyware on my comp (atleast with the one program). After i leave for school, i will put on the antiviruse search, and will attempt to find if any viruses are causing it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

does anyone have any idea what this could be?

If you can't get on IE, then I don't suppose you can download the latest windowsupdates, but does win 98 have an in-built feature for that?

Sounds like a dodgy BHO or something.

Im new to that stuff, ive cheacked the stickies, and read about them, but i cant find a place to dl the software. as it says in the sticky too, they can screw up the comp worse... so can some one tell me more about them..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PS, im gonna have my dad take a look, my comp is due for its yearly format anyways.

problem may be solved guys! my dad said the computer does need to be formated badly, but he said it could have something to do with something he downloaded for stoping viruses on microsoft programs only, lol. workd badly...

The reason he suggested is a load of rubbish.

Please Scan your PC with your anti virus again with the latest defenitions, if you dont have antivirus (i really hope you do) then you can scan with Housecall

 

 

 

Please also download, if you havnt already done so, Ad Aware SE and Spybot S&D.

 

 

 

Scan with both those programs and remove any spyware and/or keyloggers if they show up.

Wow that was weird... i couldnt find that topic. Anyways, yes i could go through so long without haveing to format, but im preatty much the only one that uses the comp all the time. I do know (becase of the stickies) how to get security and safty software, so perhaps after my dad formats (he said he would but probably take almost 2 months...) ill downloade all that stuff to protect it properly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On a better note! we removed that program he downloaded 2 nights ago, all programs work fine!
