I think oak trees would be even cheaper, since trees tend to give more exp than fruit trees.

but you can also plant fruit trees at the same time =)

good point both of you :

Planting trees is a good way to gain exp. I recommend farming rannars and making prayer potions to supply you with enough cash to buy high-level tree seeds. You will gain experience much much faster.
