consulted say the only way to get around it is to lower the security level keys in the registry?

another installation of windows? Or to reset that administrator password or whatever.

 

Basically all my problems stem from not having this password.

Why exactly do you need to be in the recovery console?

I know its a long shot, but when your in the Recovery Console, when it prompts for a password. Don't enter anything, just hit enter.

 

 

 

I had the same problem with the password and just hit enter and it let me into the RC. Maybe that may work for you.

If you have another PC that you can temporarily plug the drive into, it is possible to manually restore an earlier version of your registry from the System Volume Information folder. If this is an option I can give you detailed instructions on how to do this if you like?
