Whatever I feel like at the time. If i know they are training for something like 99 fm I might give them some maple logs. If I know they barrow alot and probably prefer to barrow I might aswell give them a few hundred prayer pots. If I dont know I just let them choose a rune item or two they want and I smith it for them.

Its strange that you can only show your affection for friends by material means.
