I think you should have said, "dropping like a ton of steel, shaped in such a fashion that it is not buoyant unlike that of large sea-faring vessels, in water". Then your statement would have had more weight behind it methinks.

I got to that point in my runescape career and quit. So I think you'll be doing the same soon, I hung around for a lil bit but ended up going pretty quickly. What you could try is barrows, you don't need friends for that, in fact they're often a hindrance and you'd quite possibly meet people there, just do alot of barrowing. That's what I did towards the end of my runescape career.
