dsavi
Yes, I did it, I went and got my computer broken. Windows won't boot, because BOOTMNGR is missing, and press ctrl+alt+delete to restart. (BOOTMNGR is the selection list where you select Fedora, which I am posting from, or Windows). My specs: AMD Anthlon X2 64 5000+ (2.6 Ghz), 2 gigs of DDR2 RAM, 250 gig hard drive, and 256 MB DDR3 nVidia GeForce 8600 GT, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. What I did: Yesterday I decided to install Fedora 8, as I don't like Ubuntu that much. It went pretty easy, until I tried booting Windows. When I selected 'Other' in the Fedora boot list, it came up with nothing. Fedora works fine. I tried using the windows repair DVD to get it back up and running, as I have before, but it detected nothing wrong. Oh yeah, I forgot to say, HELP! :ohnoes: Pretty embarrased to have gotten myself into this mess...
Bac_Talan
First, try the Grub Bootloader. If that doesn't work, I'd say to use Fedora to copy all your files to an external hard drive and reinstall both OSs. I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.Pics or it didn't happen. dsavi
/\ Sounds scary, that formatting and reinstalling. But thanks a lot!
Bac_Talan
It's actually not that scary. Just make sure you back up all your data, and you should be fine. It's also a good way to clean out excess files that you never have time to delete, bot don't have a purpose for. :P I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.Pics or it didn't happen. blade995
To do this yor probably going to screw up your linux install to get Vista to boot. You probably will need to re-install Linux afterwards and install a new bootloader. Boot from the Vista cd and go to the command prompt option under repair. From there you need to run the command "bootrec" (without quotes). bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot Run those 2 commands and you should be good to go with the Vista booting. After that, make sure Vista boots, then install a new boot loader. Hope that helps.
dsavi
Hooray, Vista boots nicely! It killed Fedora,I think, but that's ok. I still have the DVD. Many thanks to all that posted here, what would I do without the tipit forums?
