GE - the cause of bad rs lag?

Featured Replies

It has to come to attention that this lag in RS is becoming really unbearable during peak times, there is constantly periods of RS freezing for 2-3 seconds or my character would stop for like 0.5 seconds after running some 3-5 steps, real obvious signs of lag. Even now my old homeworld which has never given me this kind of lag in the past, now does. I'm pretty sure it is not my internet since I could easily surf other pages really quickly. And all forms of lag i experienced now were never present before ge update and becomes worse with time.

Is it really GE's fault, or I'm screwing something up? :wall: Has anyone else noticing this increased amount of lag since ge?

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Aside from the first few days after the GE came out, I haven't had any lag (Except for the worlds where the riots were).

Are you using the recommended worlds?

There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth.

I belive that Jagex has a Dedicated GrEx server. The mass comunication otherwise would run a hefty bandwidth bill and cause untold lag everywhere. As it stands the I belive each server sdends in its requests and offers to the GrEx server which does all the working of the exchange. Then as things happen it sends the changes to accounts (each account would keep track of its offers) to the same server which handels the friend list (this server handels what account is on what server and also sends account info when you log on from the account data base) which sends the update to the server your loged into or to the account database if your not logged on.

This might increse global server load a bit, but it should not cause noticable lag as its very light strain compared to the load each person logged on creates.

No, I do not lag, only rarelly, but that' s when I get the GE message, and even that is nothing more that a second. But I do lag at peak times in densely populated areas such as Varrock, sine there are so many players, but that' s my own computer, so I think your computer is to blame, not the Grand Exchange. You could also ask the internet company, our company itself lags sometimes and my connection speed can get 3 times slower.
