Axelle2
Hey all, Which one of these 2 works best: PC Tools AntiVirus Or Spyware Docter Or should I take them both? Also, if anyone knows, does PC Tools block dangerous sites? (Like when you would like to visit them, it gets blocked, and a message appears it might be dangerous). Thanks. Brad25891
k the 3 main anti spyware programs you want are these... which are absolutely free. Lavasoft Ad-Aware Ad-Aware is no ordinary anti-spyware, it is the original anti-spyware product, offered to consumers worldwide to protect their personal and home computers from malware attacks. And today, with over a quarter of a billion downloads, computer users put their trust in Ad-Aware more than any other anti-spyware software program. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php Spybot search and destroy Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html CWShredder CWShredder̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ finds and destroys traces of CoolWebSearch. CoolWebSearch is a name given to a wide range of different browser hijackers. Though the code is very different between variants, they are all used to redirect users to coolwebsearch.com and other sites affiliated with its operators. http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html Having all of these are a very good idea as they should take care of almost all spyware issues. and the best part is, they are all absolutely free! As for anti-virus I suggest AVG AVG Free is the most popular free solution available at no cost to home users and provides the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-fr ... s/us/frt/0 As for the blocking dangerous sites, the only thing i can suggest is buying an internet security suite, but some have problems, I can't recommend any as I don't use them. I'm pretty sure FireFox blocks spyware/ad-aware downloading.
