Futurama
Google has a product in testing called Google Web Accelerator. Its basically a caching proxy server that stores copies of the pages you visit or the images you view. When someone requests the same page, it tries to serve data out of the cache. This seems great, except that it means Google is likely storing private data that should NOT be available to the public. Some forum users have already gotten it to display private messages intended for other users. Google is not a magical angel dropping sparkly snowflakes into your buttery happiness. They are a big corporation with alot of money looking to make more of it. Use Google services objectively as you would those of any other company. feel free to move/delete topic as nessacery. Basically, dont use web accelerator if you like internet privacy. just a warning.
Demeige
I heard about this...I uninstalled it immediately even though I didn't really have much to hide except I went on a site about weed and bongs. How does a profession differ from an occupation?
____
I didn't even know it existed :P Either way, this is why I don't use many things which are still in testing ;)
Vape
This only applies to sites that aren't transferred over SSL, (such as intenet banking.) Those aren't cached, which is a good thing. Where the bloody hell are you?
DaN
This is why I never use proxy services of any kind. I advise people to avoid these kinds of tools wich claim to speed your connection up there is always a drawback wich is often worse than a slow connection EDIT: does anyone know the ip address of this proxy so I can ban it from my sites ~Dan64AuSince 27 Aug 2002
