I'm fairly sure you have to go in as a Monkey and use your MonkeySpeak Amulet, I may be wrong though.

Transforming into a money is the only way to be able to walk through the city. If you need to get your greegrees back check the quest guide and redo the part.

I can't remember all that well, but I think you never had to talk to awowogei about the food. The three monkeys (I think they're stoned, but that's just me) tell you the food, not?

 

 

 

But yeah, you need to do monkey madness up to the part where the Kruk or something monkey general gives you permission to meet awowogei or the whole quest. If you haven't done it, tough luck.
