craven_range
Hey fellow tipiters, just a quick question for those more knowledgeable than me. Are monster drops determined when a monster spawns, or when it dies. It may be a stupid question, but think about it. Are you killing the right black dragon , does the other one "have" a visage? Your friend steals your kill and get a Dragon Chain, could that of been yours? Or does it not matter which one you kill, because the drop is determined when it falls to the ground
Malhavok
I think only Jagex could tell ya the correct answer. But I would guess the drop is determined after kill. Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !
Foooman
I'm going with after the kill. Wearing a Ring of Wealth will affect your drop, meaning that you have to kill it first with the ring on. So I'm gonna go with after you kill it.
craven_range
thats nice to know that all those people that stole my kills didnt make me miss the actual drop, i only missed the chance to get that drop
Mak_1027
I often wondered that myself, and not to hijack your topic, but along the same lines ... If there are many of the same creature and they have a pretty quick respawn how do you kill them? Do you bounce around and kill everything that moves, or stick to the same 1 or 2? I figure if an item has a drop rate of 1 in 500 say, I am better off killing the same monster (well, from the same respawn) 500 times until he drops everything he has to drop, than bouncing from monster to monster .....or maybe I'm just weird #-o
777thzapster
Its the same drop rate for all of them, the drop rate is recalculated everytime you kill a monster. For example, even if you kill 1 million of a monster that has a 1 to 1 million droprate, it doesn't mean it will have to drop one because its calculation rate is 1 to 1 million for every one of those monsters you kill.
