January 8, 200818 yr To anyone who chooses to disagree with the topic creator: read my sig. On a side note, perhaps a little checkbox one could put a mark in, saying "Tutorial Island? No thanks" while creating a char? Just for starters.. And like someone else posted, if some 13 year olds can't use their frigging brain to figure out the game without a thousand ingame guidelines, and believe me, you are bombarded like a preschooler with that when starting game now, than they are one of those people who cannot walk and chew gum at the same time and I'm sure the general population has no wish to meet these players.
January 8, 200818 yr The more complicated features, i.e. the more recent skills, are mostly members-only features. F2p, where newbies start, is still pretty straightforward. You get more and more level 3s in P2p, but they tend to be pures or bots, and those can look after themselves. I agree about the gravestone being hard to get your head around, but a newbie player doesn't need to understand all the details and inner workings of the features. They'd be able to walk around the world and do some simple stuff - there's still plenty of simple stuff - and they can work out the rest gradually.
January 8, 200818 yr I am under the impression that most people who posted in this thread did not read the first post. You can hardly deny that, say, the death system , the trade system , and PKing , have become more complicated. People argue that the decrease of the amount of mouseclicks needed to perform tasks has made these tasks less complicated. I would advise these people to look up the definition of "complicated". Repetitiveness and complicatedness are pretty much upposites. Doing the same task ten times is less complicated than doing two (or three, or four) different tasks one time. "Noob" is an insult. "Noob" is overused. Be polite. Try to say "noob" less than once a day.Thank you.
January 8, 200818 yr The tutorial island that I went through 4 years ago compared to now has been updated so drastically I don't remember the old map layout and I don't remember when they made you go through a billion walk through screens. All they keep doing now is assisting assisting and they even have guides as soon as you come into lumbridge. My brother was 9 years old when I showed him the new format of the game, and guess what, he easily has a higher skill total in 1 month than I would of had in a year back then. They tell you step by step, F2P really isn't that big of an area to remember anyway.
January 8, 200818 yr Runescape is insanely simple to learn the basics of. By the time you actually need a plan to kill something you know where to get the information, you know how to get the resources, you know the risks.
