June 14, 200818 yr Basically can you just give me your opinions on my new signature. It's the first ever signature that I've made and I'm quite happy with it :) Bear in mind that this is the first ever vaguely artistic piece that I have ever created. I downloaded GIMP yesterday and this was how I tried it out.
June 14, 200818 yr That's pretty decent for a first timer with Gimp  , I got very confused myself the first time I tried it. You should look up some nice tutorials on "Deviantart.com" It's a extremly good site. I made some C/c but you didn't know how to use the tools properly (I assume) so I don't suggest reading it :P. [hide=Warning! for semi-heavy C/c (Short)]The render is overused but the placement is semi-decent (Too small imo), the background should have been with a dark colour from the render in my opinion and the text isn't really good (I hate the white colour). Overall the background/Signature is boring.[/hide]
June 14, 200818 yr Author Haha confused would be an understatement :P It took me about half an hour to work out how to anchor the render to the background. Yeah I like deviantart too, it was the original source of my background before I tried out loads of different effects (i was pretty much changing half of the settings then just undoing if I didn't like the effect lol), but I will look into the tutorials there. As to the render could you recommend any good websites for obtaining them. I used http://www.gamerenders.com but I found they all seemed to be very FPS based. Thank you for your time :)
June 14, 200818 yr It's not great TBH. I realise it's a first signature, but it could still use quite a lot of work. The background doesn't fit the render, and is really boring. It would look better with some colour(s) from the render in there, or at least better blending. It really needs something added to it to make it look more interesting, too. Like I said, the render needs to be blended, it sticks out like a sore thumb at the moment. Take a look at some tutorials for different ideas on how to do that. The text stands out way too much and is too big for my liking. The colour doesn't really fit either. It doesn't have a border, and could do with one. Usually a 1 px black stroke around the edges works well. The quality of the sig seems really bad. I think you saved it as a heavily compressed .jpeg, making it look a bit blurry. Like Julius said, http://www.deviantart.com is a great site for tutorials. Just keep practising and reading them, and I'm sure you'll improve. Also, please don't take this post badly, I'm just trying to help you with C/C and my honest opinion, so don't be discouraged. pixel avvy by me deviantART
June 14, 200818 yr Author Yeah, I realised that it was far from perfect and I'm very glad that everyone is being so honest rather than just lying and saying it's great when it clearly isn't. I agree that there is very little detail in the picture but for my first attempt I didn't want to try and overcomplicate things just yet. To be honest I didn't like the text massively either but I didn't have that link that Julius gave me :) I definitely will look at the tutorials on deviantart and thankyou for your honesty, I appretiate it :D
June 14, 200818 yr No problem, and I'm really glad you appreciate it and don't take it badly. =) pixel avvy by me deviantART
June 14, 200818 yr Far out, wheres a sticky when you need one ;) Nice attempt for a first. I use the Gimp for my works :P Keep on trying and take a look here: HERE!! Deviantart Search "Gimp tutorials" in the search box. I'd love too see you improve
June 14, 200818 yr Well if I remember correctly it was a guy on that sticky only giving compliments and not any C/c at all, I find that rather useless.
June 15, 200818 yr Well if I remember correctly it was a guy on that sticky only giving compliments and not any C/c at all, I find that rather useless. So do I. The sticky was a nice concept, but I just can't see it work to be honest. pixel avvy by me deviantART
