Barrows items, do they degrade when not using barrows weapon

My friend told me that if I didn't use my barrows weapon, whatever it is, my barrows armour will not degrade? Is this true? I haven't used barrows armour yet, and would like to know what the case is and any additional info if possible.

Not true at all.

 

The items will degrade whether you use one peice or the whole set.

And is it possible to fix it myself? I have heard several people saying you need lvl 90 construction to fix it and some saying you need some "high smithing level"

I think you just need the con level for a repair table. If you have a high enough smithing level, you pay a lower amount of money to repair the item. Lvl 99 smithers if they do it themselves pay like 25% the normal cost I think.

Just to add a bit more info :

 

 

 

Level 55 Construction for an armour stand to fix Barrows items.

 

 

 

The formula is : (100-Smithing level/2)/100* normal price of fixing armour.

 

 

 

The normal full fix of a Barrows set is 300k so if your smithing level is 50 its :

 

 

 

(100-50/2)/100=0.75*300,000=225,000.
