I haven't bought/owned a rare since they were worth next to nothing. I now have 11.8m which is ge price of santas, they bottomed out at 11.4-5m and are rising. I'm planning on not playing runescape for a while and wouldn't mind investing in a rare.

 

 

 

Can someone experienced with the rare market advise me on whether it's a good time to buy one?

I think you should buy. Rare items only get rarer when there are no new updates. I think the speed of updates will slow down, and santa hats really are fun to have after you've quit for a few months or years.

The santa suit is in the lead for the guaranteed content poll about our next Christmas event. If it ends up winning, it's very likely that people will be wanting santa hats to match it, so I think a short-term rise in price is likely. Then again, everybody else will be thinking the same thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if it crashed soon afterwards.

 

 

 

But if you're planning on taking a break from runescape, seems like a low-end rare would be a good investment. In the long-term, the supply can only decrease, which means it's a lot more likely to rise than it is to fall.

If you ask me, there's no good times to buy rares... I think they will drop alot in the future. People are beginning to realise how useless they are.
