All the guides say that I must complete Desert Treasure before I can kill the monsters at the end of Recipe for Disaster. If this is true does anyone know why.

Yes. There are strange copies of the bosses at the end of RFD that you have to fight.

Remember to use Magic to kill the four bosses...use Blast spells they pwn.
