bh pking help for retired barrow pure

Featured Replies

hey, I used to play alot, but quit about 10months ago when jagex took the wildy out of rs, ruined the da, and screwed up trade and merching etc.

well, rs is like smoking, i cant seem to quit and once again found myself playing, but everythings changed.

For quite some time i had been working on making my main a barrow pure 70def 90+ att 90+ str for low level wildy combat but now that anybody can fight just about nebody in the bh, is there any point to owning a pure anymore?

i know very little about how bh works, ive played it a little from my other low lvl f2p pures, but was never any good, can someone give me advice on what to do to make this account a good pker once again?

stats:

attack:80

strength:80

defense:66

hitpoints:74

range:42

magic:61

summoning:4

total combat lvl: 93

prayer:48

Well, i'd stick with your same stats, as BH is now single combat and its just like the wild, but wiith peneltys

80+ Attack

80+ Strength

70 Defense

~76 HP

70+ Range (optional)

80+ Magic (for now; if you don't plan on using it, then just leave it for now, but you'll ultimately want it for Vengeance)

X Summoning (don't raise it since it adds to combat levels)

70 Prayer (Piety)

Since you're going for a barrows pure, you might as well get the needed 70 Defence. I don't know if you plan to PK with Dharok's, or will just use the regular melee setup; either way it shouldn't affect your PKing. You'll definitely want to put time towards getting 94 Magic and finishing the Lunar Diplomacy in order to use Vengeance. Range is pretty much just to help with HP, and you never know if you might want to try using range in the craters instead of melee once in awhile, but you don't need to raise it.

BH is basically like the old wildy, but it is extremely unbalanced. I still don't see why they could've just made it so that you can only attack players within a range of about 1 of your level, but I won't rant...Just watch out for double teamers, taggers, and if you're going to take a penalty kill at least make sure you have a reasonable amount of prayer and food available to survive the 3 minutes.

another question, i have a mage account that i use for free worlds mage lvl 62 combat 46 and ive tried pking with him in bh, but it seems that mages are just pointless in there, and are quickly swarmed by rangers. Is this true? or do i still have hope for that account.

Also, is the ranger and clan problem as bad in the medium craters as it is in the low lvl crater, ive pretty much always been a lone pker, for the past 4 years now thats how i played, and i really am kinda distressed about all this stuff and having to change my ways =/

Pure mages are absolutely pointless in F2P BH, you'll just be wasting your money on runes and food. However you could turn it into a range/mager, I've had good results when I tried a range/mage hybrid.

I haven't seen much clans in BH craters as much as friends in groups of 3 or 4 that tag team their targets, but yes, Mid-level crater is completely unbalanced. You pretty much need to be 90+ combat to even have a chance at killing someone. You shouldn't have to change your ways, but just be cautious of taggers.

Well, just getting 70 Defence and 70 Prayer and about 76 HP would put you at 97 combat. At that stage you can raise your mage to 99 without gaining a level, as well as range. I'm assuming you want at least 95 attack and strength, so that combined with your other stats would put you at 111 combat, meaning you can gain one more combat level until you won't be able to enter the mid-level crater. Unfortuantely, you won't be able to have 99 attack, strength and hitpoints unless you stay at 66 defence OR keep your prayer under 47 (whilst having 70 defence).

Ultimately, there are two options you can choose (both including 70 defence):

1. Get 52 prayer, and only get 97 attack and get 99 strength and HP.

2. Get 70 prayer, and only get 90 attack and get 99 strength and HP.

Each option would put you at the edge of 112 combat, meaning one more combat stat level would put you at 113 combat.

Personally, I find option 2 better, since Piety increases your attack by 20%, so 90 x .2 = 18 + 90 =108. Therefore with piety you'll actually be 108 attack, giving you a higher attack level than you would be without the use of Piety in option 1. Also take into consideration Piety increases your defence by 25% and your strength by 23%, so ultimately with Piety you'll be these stats:

108 attack

121.77 strength

87.5 Defence

Also with the use of pots you'll have even greater stats.

Good luck!

dude, thats awesome, thanks youve been a great help, so no matter how i look at it, i have a ton of work yet to do, but it will keep me busy a couple more years (problem is by the time i get it finished, they'll change the game on me again)

but i didnt know it was possible to get range AND mage to 99 without raising a single combat level !?!?! are you positive about that?

Yes, you are melee based and your current stats allow you to obtain 99 mage and range without gaining a combat level. Keep in mind though that the HP gained by getting range levels (and mage levels if you aren't alching your way there) will make you gain combat levels, but since you're most likely going to want 99 HP anyways it doesn't really matter.

i also quit for some time after wildy was gone and bh was terrible. now with the updates with bh it is a much better place to pk. no more big clans ruining it etc.

bh is really about stats. not like wildy where u fight ppl who r at least 5 cmb levels aways from u but in bh it is bigger. seeign ur cmb level 90s u should be good! just start pking right away otherwise ur time will be done and u will fight among the big boys level 100+

okay thanks for the advice, but what i liked about the wildy was the hunt. there was no guaranteed fight, i would spend 3 hours a day looking for a good fight, sometimes for my opponent to tele completley red-barred

sometimes i would be out numbered, some times out gunned, sometimes i would be the dominant player but the beauty was, i could log when i want to, i could leave when i want to, its not like bh where you are guaranteed to be thrust in the middle of a warzone where you have no control of the situation that the game places you in, instead of you chosing your own fights.

the other problem i noticed is there are these morons who bring nothing into bh, and they start kicking you, well you have to kill them to get them off you, you just cant sit there. but when you do kill them, you are the one penalized.

the rule should be changed that the rogue rule does not apply when you are attacked by someone else...

99 attack, 90 strength, 70 defence, 99 hitpoints.

i'm not sure if you can get 70 prayer like that, so check with the tip it combat calc, if 70 puts you over 112 combat, its a no go, and stick with 53, if not, go for it.

99 attack beats 99 strength in this case because you should be using a whip most of the time, and if you levelled attack or strength again you'd go up to 113 combat.

essentially BH is a no rules, no honour PJfest where you'll get teamed as soon as you get a kill, keep protect item on.
