Defunct Access Keys While Posting???

Featured Replies

Hello, Tip.It Admins (and anyone else that reads this)

I have recently noticed (e.g., the last 2 weeks or so) that attempting to add formatting to my posts with the 'alt+' combos is not working, and is instead jumping to the browser menus up above. And this is even though I have checked the page code and found that access keys are defined in the appropriate places. Did something get broken while the Tip.It Main Theme was being updated, or is it my browser ("FireFox 2"-series) not reacting properly to the page? :-s

Maybe try putting Num Lock on?

They have never worked for me, no matter which browser I use. :S
They worked for me back on FF 1.5 ... Different PC which I was on, though... :-k ... Maybe a difference in the FF cores? :-s ... At least I'll be using that other one again in the nearby future. Maybe I can learn something here. -.-

I always have Num Lock on. Thanks for the thought. :)

Hmm, they work for me. I don't know why it wouldn't work.. Sounds like a hardware problem rather than a website issue.

Hmm... Only if it has something to do with Logitech versus keyboard signals sent to programs like FireFox, I think. :-k ... Would be a bummer, though, if that was the case. :( ... Although, would that explain the signal going to the menu bar, instead of the web page content? :-s

Man, I'm really confused now. :wall: ... Time for me to go check something. -.- ... BTW, does FF2's spell check interfere with in-page shortcut key combos? :|

ARGH!!! :wall:

I just discovered the fault lies in the FireFox 2.x-series core. It seems that you have to hold both 'Alt' and 'Shift' for the access key in the page to be triggered. -.- ... Oh well, nothing that I can do about it, but at least this last little tidbit is handy for other FF2-users. ::'

Sorry for taking up everyone's time. :(
