Is Runescape Educational?

Recommended Posts

I remember a something on runescape.com a while ago it was somewhere in classic where jagex quoted somebody i'm not sure who it was and not sure if its still in the updates section about runescape being educational, so my question is have you learned something from updates?

Personally i was watching something on the Medieval era the other day and how metal workers started working with bronze (the bronze age) and then started using iron, and then started adding more carbon to the iron (present in coal and other fossil fuels) to make it denser for steel, so as you can see the armour itself says abit about the history also chainmail was made first of all as it was light and provided more mobility but as the crossbow was invented platemail was made and widely used, with smithing ingame you can see that platemail requires a higher level so is introduced later.

Also Flax is a real plant and can be used for bow string, medieval science included Alchemy, turning things to gold, where do we see that in runescape?

Quests are another area that includes myths such as camelot, the holy grail, the black death was included in rat catchers quest, romeo and juliet is another also guilds existed, which they kept the secrets of the trade within and would only share them with the worksmen around them.

So is runescape based on fact or fiction?

Personally i think runescape started off with real life influences but as it progressed it got less and less life like with the addition of new armours but it still has real life references.

The skills i think are based in reality, as jagex do months of research beforehand and making sure the skill has depth apart from firemaking.
