More lag than usual, please help. (Laptop)

Featured Replies

Recently I've been playing RS on low detail and having nothing but that open and my laptop's been lagging way more than usual. I play with it on my lap and I try to make sure that most of the fans aren't blocked by anything. It gets pretty hot but I don't have a table or anything to put it on that won't kill my back. Lately I've been lagging for no reason.. here are my specs if they'll help..

[hide=specs]OS: Vista

System manufacturer: Acer, inc.

Model: Aspire 5920

BIOS: ZD1 v.1 3804 3H04

Processor: Intel Core 2duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66Ghz (2 CPUs), ~1.7GHz

Memory: 3062MB RAM

Page file: 1305MB used, 5004MB available

DirectX version: DirectX 10

Graphics Card: Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset family[/hide]

I think I have the recommended specs to play HD but that kills my laptop. I know my processor sucks but I have no clue if I can replace it on a laptop without paying lots.. If you can, please help.

Probably overheating, even though you are playing on your lap and fans arent blocked, your soft legs are also good insulators of heat so air might be going in and out but the it is still very hot as not much heat is being conducted out. Play on a hard surface and see how it goes

If you can't play on a hard surface (or otherwise fan-cooled surface), then look into getting a cooling pad. That might help the temperature regulation.

[Although I still think that the Intel embedded chipset can't play HD...]

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

If it was a tempurature problem his computer would pry be shutting down it is was that hot. I do agree with you in the sense to set it on a hard surface or with moto on getting a cooling pad which i have and they keep the computer like 10 degrees cool.
