August 28, 200817 yr I'm sure some of you tiffers are in a band/have played in a band, so post your experiences here! For me, my first band was about a year and a half ago. I was still pretty new at guitar and one of my neighbors played drums so we decided to form a band. It was just me and him and we really sucked really bad, but it was so much fun that idc. We ended up playing one "concert" (aka playing in a garage with a few people from around the neighborhood watching) before I ended moving :\ Then my new band, which I joined a few months ago, is like 5 times better. My drummer is like 100x better than my old one and we actually have a rhythm guitarist and a bassist :P But the bassist has been having a pretty lame attitude towards the entire band, and he sucks at bass as well so we're going to pretty much kick him out. He's missed 2 months of practice for who knows what and still gives us crap so we really don't see why he should stay. Other than that our music is a lot better than that of my old band and we're looking for a singer atm
August 29, 200817 yr I play in two 'bands'. One is an actual band called Communication from Elsewhere. It's indie rock and IMO it is fairly terrible. The myspace has some early recording done on a cheapo recorder which you can check out if you like. The singer has some definate pitch issues but he's getting better. Slowly. I play lead guitar and am the main song writer. http://www.myspace.com/communicationfromelsewhere Best songs are Out of Touch and Epic Scenes from Distant dreams (I didn't write the lyrics or title of the last one). We plan on recording a demo in a studio somewhere or doing it ourselves to save cash. The other is a metal group with myself, my best mate on bass and my old best mate from primary school on lead guitar. We don't have a drummer and although I put down vocals onto some tracks, they were recorded by running guitar pro drums into audacity, recording guitar over it and then making awful attempts at both falsetto singing (I have no breath control) and death growls (same problem) for a laugh. I have however lost my microphone and I wont put up any old tracks as they are too embarrassing. High lights for me include Forever Fallen (only complete serious song with lyrics), Kill the Orcs before they trick you (3 Inches of Blood Parody) and Death Metal Cat Food (with such great lyrics as "I cooked him with a saucepan of hatred, and broke him into manageable pieces for my pretty"). We plan on getting a set together and playing metal nights at bars for a laugh. I'll need to either get a hell of a lot better at vocals and playing or find a vocalist. I've been singing scales to try and improve but I really struggle with singing. And I can't even speak to someone without getting thrown from my guitar playing. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
August 29, 200817 yr Author they were recorded by running guitar pro drums into audacity, recording guitar over it Haha, i've done this quite a few times :P
August 29, 200817 yr im a one man band 8-) im lacking a microphone and a drumset though :? Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.
August 29, 200817 yr http://www.myspace.com/ataraxy1metal We're about 3 weeks off releasing our first EP. Only 4 songs, but they're pretty well done. We had a professional producer record and mix us and are getting the CDs sent off to Arizona to be made with album artwork and some cardboard outsides to hold the CDs. No music on the Myspace currently, but once we get the EP out, we'll have it up. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
September 2, 200817 yr im a one man band 8-) im lacking a microphone and a drumset though :? Damn, beat me to it... Wouldn't it be cool... If some guy on youtube made a song cover, and he plays all parts and he edits the video so they are all playing at once, if there is a video like that pm me lol. Luck be a Lady
September 2, 200817 yr Damn, beat me to it... Wouldn't it be cool... If some guy on youtube made a song cover, and he plays all parts and he edits the video so they are all playing at once, if there is a video like that pm me lol. does most of the instruments in his songs. He plays the piano, drums, bass and guitar in that one. Doesn't really show that well in that video, but he's a goddamn guitar wiz for his age.
September 2, 200817 yr I wanna start band, with me as the vocalist, I know a Drummer, Bassist and Guitarist, so maybe... Anyone know where I can find some free software which has a Pitchshifter built in? My Last.FmLeekSpinner!!!Random Furry Dance!!!Proud to hate life, since not too long ago!!!
September 3, 200817 yr I'm in a hard rock / metal band, though we're only doing covers for the school talent shows ATM. A couple months ago we covered Animate, by Rush, and for the next one we're doing Over The Hills and Far Away by Nightwish. We have yet to find a permanent singer though - we didn't have one until two weeks before the last performance, and while he was alright, it was unspectacular. So, interestingly enough, to try to sing Tarja Turunen's part in Over The Hills we got the drummer's little sister, who is only eleven or something. It's gonna be sweet - she's an awesome singer. Should be fun. Being immature is a part of being mature.
