welcome to jack harwks guide on fighting the kbd

hopefully you'll learn some new tactics to try out at the kbd and might even try them out yourself

oh and one thing...

DONT FORGET YOUR ANTIFIRE SHIELD!

[hide=requirements]i sguuest you have a certain team size and a certain lvl for fighting the kbd

suggested lvl - team size

65+ - 5+

75+ - 4+

85+ - 3+

95+ - 2+

100+ - 1+

please note that this is combat lvls that do not including summoning lvls, if you have trained summon pretty high you should be 5 lvls higher than the sggested levels (sorry if this is not phrased right)[/hide]

[hide=melee]melee is the basic way of dealing with the kbd, lots of people fight kbd with this method here is a basic set up for the kbd

normalmelee.jpg

weapon: abbysal whip > dragon scimitar > dragon longsword > dragon b axe > ddp++ > rune wep

helm: barrow helm > neitiznot > berserker/warrior helm > dragon > granite > rune

body: bandos chestplate > barrows body > fighter torso > dragon > granite > rune

legs: bandos tassets > barrows > dragon legs > granite legs > rune legs

gloves: best rfd gloves

boots: dragon boots > rune boots > climbing boots > bandos boots

amulet: fury > glory > strength > power > stole

cape: fire cape > skill cape (t) > skill cape > legends cape > obsidian cape > mage arena cape > any cape

inventory

no pictures at the current time

inventory should be something like this

1 teleport tablet

1 super att (4)

1 super str (4)

1 super def (4)

2 prayer potions (4)

1 super anti poison (4)

1 antifire potion (4)

20 sharks

the main aim of this tactic is to get in quickly with your team (or by yourself) unload all of your special attacks on the kbd then try to kill it quickly, this is a very simple setup and pretty much all players can use this set up.[/hide]

[hide=prayer]to use this method you must have 43+ prayer

prayer is another method used by alot of players

there are 3 different inventorys you can use for the prayer set up, but the armor almost always stays the same

prayer.jpg

weapon: abbysal whip > d scimmy > dragon long sword > ddp++ > rune wep

helm: neitiznot > proselyte > initiate

body: proselyte/fighter torso > intiate > bandos chestplate

legs: proselyte > initiate > bandos tassets

gloves: rfd gloves > white gloves

boots: bandos boots > white boots

amulet: stole > fury > glory > power > strength

cape: fire cape > skill cape (t) > skill cape > legends cape > obby cape > any cape

inventory

now the inventory can differ depending on which method of prayer recharge you plan on doing (this will be mentioned in a minute) here are the sample inventorys

normal prayer inventory

1 teleport tablet

1 super att (4)

1 super str (4)

1 super def (4)

1 antifire potion (4)

1 super anti poison (4)

6 prayer potions (4)

16 sharks

brew and restore inventory (not tested yet)

1 teleport tablet

1 super att (4)

1 super str (4)

1 super def (4)

1 antifire potion (4)

1 super anti poison (4)

10 sara brews

12 super restores

run to alter inventory

1 teleport tablet

1 super att (4)

1 super str (4)

1 super def (4)

1 antifire potion (4)

1 super anti poison (4)

3 prayer potion (4)

19 sharks

apart from run to alter these methods are self explanitary, run to alter is a bit more complicated, after each kbd kill you must leave the kbd lair and make a dash for the alter to the south west, recharge your prayer, then make a dash back to the kbd lair, there is only 1 problem with this method and that is the threat of revenants, you will likley to be on low prayer so you are a sitting duck for revenants , if you should see a revenant that can attack you, either, run back into kbd lair and teleport, or run into the church, lock yourself in the church and log in, log out, if you have been teleblocked. once the revenant has gone run back to the alter and charge prayer or return to kbd lair

runtoalter-1.jpg

this method is quite like the normal melee method, but, instead of just fighting the kbd you turn your protect melee prayer on and fight the kbd like this, taking only damage from its special fire attacks[/hide]

[hide=godsword]75+ att and 37+ prayer required

the riskiest style to use at the kbd and shouldonly be attempted if you know what you are doing at the kbd, you can solo with this method as i have tried it but it would be much better with a team.

now here are 2 sample set ups for using a god sword at kbd

godsword.jpg

gsmeleearmor.jpg

the 1st set up incorporates dragonhide for good magic defence

the 2nd set up incorporates rune and fighter torso for good hits and good melee defence

there are lots of different set ups to use for godswords so i wont mention them all but...

- if you have 80+ magic use melee armor the magic fire breath attacks will do little damage, and with the melee armor his melee attacks wont be a big threat either

- if you have 80+ defence use dragonhide you will still take damage from the kbd's melee attacks but not as much if you had a lower defence, the d hide will also give you a good amount of defence the kbd's magical fire breath attacks

- if you have both mix and match you defences to find the perfect set up for you

inventorys are quite different aswell but they should always include...

1 super att (4)

1 super str (4)

1 super def (4)

1 super anti (4)

1 anti fire (4)

1 teleport tablet

4 prayer potions (4)

12 sharks

i have not mentioned all 28 slots as there is room for more or less of things e.g. prayer potions or sharks, if you want you can also incorporate the run to alter method mentioned in the prayer section

choosing the godsword to take with you is another very important decision, certain godswords do better here than others and i will explain each one, here is the order of how good they are

sgs > ags > bgs > zgs

sgs - this is a brilliant tool down here, aslong as the special hits you will be doing fine, the restore of prayer and hits is brilliant as you will constantly be using prayer, and as it is a god sword you will deal some good damage aswell :D

ags - pretty much self explanitary, good special which will quickly get rid of the kbd's health very useful for quick kills

bgs - good old bgs, pretty good at kbd, with its special lowering the kbds defence you and your team can hit better on him and get quicker kills, always useful ::'

zgs - its special has no use here, freezing the kbd does not help at all, it will use its dragonfire if it cant reach you, but being a godsword it can deal good damage so it is always an option

ss - now you might say this is not a godsword! well you are right but, it is a good weapon with a good effective special which should not be overlooked, it can deal good damage (not as good as a godsword) and for all people who cant afford a godsword but want to try this method use an ss

this method requires constant use of prayer otherwise it is instant death, you will not be using an antifire shield as your sword is 2 handed. instead you will be using protect magic prayer and antifire potion, with this you will have complete protection from the dragonfire allowing you to unload your specials on the kbd and last the duration of the fight, just remember to keep an eye out for the message when your anti fire pot runs out or you will suffer an instant 50, same goes for prayer[/hide]

[hide=range]range is simple and easy method of doing the kbd, you can do at a decent range lvl and dont need big teams to get many kills

range set up can be 1 of 2 things, here is the basic range set up...

range.jpg

weapon: rune c'bow > karil c'bow > crystal bow > dark bow > magic bow > dragon darts

ammo for rune c'bow: ruby bolts (e) + diamond bolts (e) > adamant bolts > mithril bolts

ammo for dark bow: dragon arrows + rune arrows > rune arrows > adamant arrows > mith arrows

ammo for magic shortbow: rune arrows > adamant arrows > mithril arrows

helm: armadyll > robin > blessed coif > archer helm > karil coif > fog coif > coif > neitiznot

body: armadyll > karil top > blessed d'hide top > black d'hide > red d'hide

legs: armadyll > karil skirt > blessed d'hide chaps > black d'hide > red d'hide

gloves: rfd gloves > blessed d'hide vambs > black vambs > red vambs

boots: rangers > snakeskin > frog leather > leather boots > dragon boots

amulet: fury > glory > power

cape: accumulator

note : if using 2 handed bow please red information about inventory

method 2

commonly used method is full void + rune crossbow and diamond bolts (e), this method is pretty self explanitary so i wont go into anymore detail

inventory

this should consist of food and pots nothing much else can be said...

2 ranging potions (4)

2 prayer potions (4)

1 super anti (4)

1 anti fire (4)

1 teleport tablet

21 sharks

if you are using a 2 handed bow you will need to use anti fire + magic prayer method similar to what was mentioned in the godsword section of the guide, the good thing is you will be out of range of the kbds melee attacks so you can use all your dhide and not have to use melee armor.

ranging at kbd is pretty simple stand a few steps away drink a dose of each potion and fire away, it will be dead in no time ;) if you are using both ruby bolts (e) and diamond bolts (e) you may be asking when do i use which?? well start off with ruby bolts (e) when the kbd hits 50% health switch to diamond bolts (e) for the kill[/hide]

[hide=mage]this method requires a high magic lvl, kbd is highly resistant to magic so dont be expecting large amounts of damage

the set up is pretty simple....

weapon: mystic staff > battle staff > elemental staff > void knight mace*

helm: ahrim > infinity > battle robe > mystic > lunar > farseer > skeletal > splitbark

body: ahrim > infinity > battle robe > mystic > lunar > skeletal > splitbark

legs: ahrim > infinity > battle robe > mystic > lunar > skeletal > splitbark

gloves: rfd gloves > mystic gloves > chaos gauntlets

boots: infinity > mystic > lunar

amulet: fury > glory > magic > power

cape: mage arena cape > fire cape > skillcape (t) > skill cape

inventory

the inventory depends on what spell you use so i will leave some spots empty

1 mage potion (4)

2 prayer potions (4)

1 super anti (4)

1 anti fire (4)

1 teleport tablet

19 sharks

spell choice

this is important, whichever spell you use, you must be able to cast it quite alot, unless you are in a large team, here i will suggest some spells to use

claws of guthix + void mace - auto cast of a powerful god spell is something you cant pass up as it is a very powerful spell, the spell also has a special ability which lowers the opponents defence...excellent

slayer dart - cheap and effective can hit quite good and constant making it quite a good option its not the cheapest option but the runes are not badly priced

wave - high cost, can cause high damage but the cost can put you off, if u got the gp, use it, if not dont

blast - not bad choice of spell can hit decent

bolt + chaos gauntlets - cheap and effective, just what your after, your max hit with bolt spells are raised and these runes are really cheap...excellent...again :)

magic is something i dont suggest you use unless your in a team of 4+ and have 70+ magic, magic hardly hits on kbd and you will be relying on your team to do killing[/hide]

[hide=getting there]there are 3 ways of getting to the kbd simply and pretty safely.

here they are.

1. from bounty hunter.

banking1.jpg

2. from ardounge wilderness switch (rangers and mages require knife)

banking2.jpg

3. from mage arena (rangers and magers require knife)

banking3.jpg[/hide]

[hide=tactics]i am going to explain some simple tactics so that you can save some hitpoints and spread damage around your team

for a two way team, stand on opposite sides of the kbd like this

2wayteam.jpg

the kbd will spin round trying to attack both of you, it will lose a couple of attacks during the time its spinning and saves 1 man from taking lots of damage

for a three way team try and stand similar to this

3wayteam.jpg

yet again try to maximise the time the kbd is spinning round saving hit points.

for a fourway team, stand around the kbd in a box

4wayteam.jpg

yet again maximising his spinning time :D

now for bigger teams this may get hectic and confusing but if you space yourself out you will be fine, here is a 12 man example

12mansetup.jpg

now iv heard someone mention this before but unless i get some proof dont try this, have mages/ranges stand together on one side and warriors on other sides, supposedly this can maximise spinnin time and reduce damage, but, i dont trust it

rangemagemelee.jpg[/hide]

[hide=banking]when your low on food, or need to leave, or youve got a full inventory of drops your gonna need to leave and bank.

now if you followed the suggestion of taking a teleport, you can easily teleport out, otherwise..use leave the kbd lair and use obelisk to reach bounty hunter

banking1.jpg[/hide]

[hide=extra information]familiars

i dont use familiars very often but they can be quite useful, beasts of burden with sharks can be a life saver, and healers well thats self explanotary.

ring

you may have noticed i have not mentioned a ring in any section, this is all your own personal preference, ring of life if you are new, ring of wealth if your confident, berserker ring for more damage, archer ring for range bonus, seers ring for mage bonus etc.

KBD drops

the kbd can drop a variety of things including a draconic visage, dont hunt for it here, go somewhere else if you want a visage, kbd is a good team based monster with low lvl rewards, visage is the icing on the cake if you get it.[/hide]

[hide=thanks to..]me - for making the guide ::'

friends - for different styles and equipment suggestions

tip.iters - for reading it [/hide]

Yeah, decent guide. Talk about drop rates?

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

Erm some pieces of advice; Use capital letters! Try some more information on how the fight pans out and generally set the guide out a bit neater so thats its easier and more pleseant to read through.

Just FYI... The KBD ONLY hits with melee and "X". The fireballs are N O T magic based as they are not negated by the magic prayer. The only creatures able to hit through magic pray with a magic attack is other players and summons (K'ril can do it for melee attacks, but he has it mentioned) so I doubt KBD would have a secret "negate prayer" power.

Doesn't dragonfire always hit through magic prayer, unless you take a sip of anti fire potion?

OT: good guide, but try making it a bit more.. erm.. readable :P

Chuck Norris doesn't ever need a compass; he randomly points somewhere and north goes there in order not to anger him.
