Ol' Fashioned Records

Featured Replies

Recently, i've really gotten into soul music and jazz etc, which primarily comes out on LP's, 12" and 7"s etc, however, i don't have a record player, and its a pain to hear a fantastic song, only to find out you can't have it because its not on MP3 or CD format.

So to those people out there with record players, which one is good to get to play that kind of record, and which ones are cost-effective.

And while i'm at it, are mixing decks (which DJ's use) far more expensive?

Also, if possible, is there one which can also be plugged into a PC, so you can put the records onto your pc, and even if possible find a program to mix the songs up?

Thanks for any help :)

Ion has got a series of USB record players. So that you can connect them to your computer and record your LPs on the computer.

I'm not exactly and expert on Hardware though. So it might be best to ask for more advice, try to find an forum specialized in this kind of stuff.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

The record player I got was probably the cheapest one there, from some brand I never heard of it. It works perfectly fine. The USB one Daan linked to would probably be best to record on the computer, but I just use an adapter cord for mine (red/white to 1/8th inch headphone jack) and put it in the line in on the sound card.

don't know much about brands but my brothers vinyl player is cool, u can record from record to cd as well as importing things to the computer, his was really expensive though... not too sure on the exact amount he paid. You could probablly just check out local record shops (not cd stores like best buy) and find some decent deals... but vinyl is definately ftw  .
