Da Pirates
In my hand I have a Best Buy advertisement and they are advertising the following: Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9300 Computer with 19" HD LCD Widescreen monitor. It has: Windows Vista Home Premium, 6GB DDR2 memory, 640GB hard drive, Reads and writes dual-layer DVDs and CDs, Labelflash disc labeling technology, nVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Over-Clocked graphics with 512MB dedicated graphics memory and DirectX 10. Sorry if it looks weird, that is how it is typed in the ad. It costs $1200 :? I might buy it, I might not. Will it support Crysis? BR BR BR? OldJoe
Yes it will. I posted a computer on an older thread here somewhere with a pre-built HP computer for 900$ on newegg, which i'd say is more price-worthy than this one. If you want a good computer and save cash; 1 - pick your own stuff and put it together, or, 2 - check with your local specialized computer store if they have some sweet deals. Errdoth
...yes..on very high, even.. lag free? I have a q6600 (@~3.0ghz), 8gb ram, and an 8800GTS (640MB) and I played it on very high just fine. (Same with Warhead) I wonder if farcry 2 will be the next "Oh but can it run.."? It's supposed to be better optimized, though :/ I'm just sick of people using crysis as a benchmark... OldJoe
I'm just sick of people using crysis as a benchmark... It is the most power computer game on the market though.. Perhaps. But compare Crysis and Warhead (finished Warhead yesterday, nice game). Since Warhead is newer, it should need even more power than Crysis. But it doesn't, because CryEngine2 used for Crysis isn't as optimized as the updated CryEngine2 used in Warhead. Errdoth - I think FarCry 2 will run good. A card for about 80euros should be enough to run any game on pretty good setting. I really neeed to upgrade my graphics card for FarCry 2 tho, i want to run it on higher settings so i can enjoy the graphics and not get lag lol. eggzs
Sorry to say that that computer won't run Crysis maxed at DX10 and high resolution (> 1680x1050 with AA/ AF post processing turned to very high) possibly you will get frames in the mid 20s, playable but will drop down during the ice levels and firefights. Looks like the computer he stated buying comes with a 19" monitor, so the max resolution will be 1440*900. Even then it would be hard put to get what most most people consider adequete framerates (>30) at Very High settings. It would probably run at High settings quite comfortably though. gonpost
What I want to know is how the hell are you getting all of that for $1200?!?! Either way, that's a hell of a rig. You'll be able to play crysis on all high at native res. You might be able to even put a few things on very high with that, lol... But so you know, crysis looks beautiful on just plain high. I have a friend with a Q6600, 2GB RAM, 8800GT who can play it on almost all settings high at his native res and get >30 fps all the time. What you just described is a bit better... That's a computer worth buying for that price. Runescape Name: "unbug07"Expand your mind.
OldJoe
Better computer, 100$ less: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6883103154 What i would do in your case, is buying a cheaper computer but with a higher clocked dual-core cpu and buying a seperate graphics card (in such a case, hoping that it doesn't need the psu changed), which would save you more money and still get a good computer.
