idea for new chat filter - trade

Featured Replies

I think it'd be nice to have a 'Trade' chat filter. It would make it so that you are only talking to the person you are trading with.

It would sure help alot when trading in a populated area and there is too much chatter to discuss your prices.

What do you think?

anyone else?

Interesting idea, but how exactly and in what kind of way if any would JaGeX go about creating such a thing? How would it work? How would you use it? you need some details to help this topic go further and maybe into JaGeXs' consideration.

its pretty obvious how it would work... this has been suggested about 8479 times

all they would need to do is make it like the "friends" filter but instead of looking at the friends list to see who to filter and who not to, they will look at the person who u r trading with. it wouldnt be that hard to implement for Jagex.

That unfortunatly wouldnt work, as jagex wouldnt know who you are planning to trade with until one of you actually send a trade request, and then you have to impose a limit as to how long it lasts as chat just locks on that one person, which means it excludes anyone else who wants to trade as you cant talk to them.

They COULD introduce something like a mini friend list (a Trade List), which only holds 10 or so names, and seperates it out, but then you'd have to go to the trouble of adding people and deleting people from that list all the time.

At least, thats my suggestion on the idea.

i dont think u understand what the idea was, u can turn the chat fiter on once u r in trade so that u can talk to the person u r trading with. not while u r out of trade, that wouldnt make sence.

Ah yes, my bad sorry. I see what you are getting at now, which in that case, yeap, I suspect it would be pretty easy to make the chat seperate like that.

The only problem I can see is noob traders, and if people didnt swap it back to public chat, as you wouldnt be able to see others chat to respond to them, which annoys some people.
