October 2, 200817 yr Right now with 78 Thieving, I succeed pickpocketing a gnome 1 in 10 times. Pickpocketing Paladins yeilds a 1 in 3 probability of success. Has anyone done any testing on how much the gloves of silence improve success rate? Should I get 54 Hunter to use them? (I am at level 1 hunter) I don't think training my summoning to get a magpie is an option as I hear it is an expensive skill to train. I haven't played in three years, are there any other ways to improve my likelihood of success besides leveling up more?
October 2, 200817 yr If you're just trying to level thieving, sorceress' garden of pyramid plunder are both better ways. And yes, I think you should level hunter for the gloves if you want to pickpocket a lot. The spotted/spottier capes are also ver y handy.
October 2, 200817 yr If you are just after fast xp, at your level you should go to Pyramid Plunder. Best thieving xp hands down.
October 2, 200817 yr Author I need money. I would like to make more money pickpocketing. I blackjack for exp (200k xp an hour for me.)
October 2, 200817 yr The Gloves of Silence are of no use during Blackjacking. The Gloves BEST use is on Guards and Knights...less chance of failure equates to the gloves lasting longer (since they start to wear out with each failure)
October 2, 200817 yr Author I don't think people are understanding the aim of my question. I use blackjacking for XP, not for making money. I am inquiring about the value of Gloves of Silence towards the use of pickpocketing higher level NPCs for profit.
October 2, 200817 yr Author The Gloves of Silence are of no use during Blackjacking. The Gloves BEST use is on Guards and Knights...less chance of failure equates to the gloves lasting longer (since they start to wear out with each failure) See my above post. I can pickpocket gaurds and knights with a failure only 1 in 20 attempts, so to me that would not be a good investment. I am looking for higher yeilds while pickpocketing more profitable NPCs, ie. Paladins, Gnomes, Heroes.
October 2, 200817 yr I do understand your question....I just haven't personally done a study on it, but I pickpocket Paladins and the success rate is increased visibly over when I do not wear them. For me and my Thieving level (73), they do impact my success rate.
October 2, 200817 yr Thieving higher level NPC's for money is NOT a good idea. If you're desperate, mine pure essence. You'll make more money doing that than you ever will with thieving. EDIT: Also, if you do Pyramid Plunder you have a chance of a Sceptre, which sells for a nice chunk of change. Not only is it good experience, but you can also make money. A lot more money than if you pickpocketed NPC's. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
