October 9, 200817 yr Author They have reinvented many older skills already, think about it. Woodcutting: That jungle cutting minigame, you chop things & random events occur, you fix a fence with sticks you cut, you're rewarded with access to highly rewarding trees or currency to buy some simple things. Mage: Mage training arena, various different games that require a little thought, bunch of different rewards that can be valuable. Firemaking: Beacon Lighting, Run from beacon to beacon lighting them in remote and exciting locations. Decent xp and you can use cheap logs. Mining: Star falling minigame, run around trying to be the first to find a fallen star and then mine it with many other players for some cash and decent xp. Runecrafting: The RC guild gives some xp, lots of ess, plus the tabs are a new way to get to the altars. Smithing: Group smithing at the Blast Furnance I can probably go on if I think about it, but yea they all flopped because most players want simple one click, afkable, big reward, junk. They all flopped really because of the fact that the accessibility really is limited. Meaning to go do these things you need to go to really specific, one-location places. What the skills need is something just as commonly and easily accessed as trees, ores and fishing spots, but with different spins on them. Something with more edge and more risk, even. Jagex has taken risk and excitement out of the game. They are attempting to rectify this, but I feel it could even be achieved in older skills. And people who keep saying I wanted to get rid of old ways of training are wrong. I simply mean add more features that really would make the skills more enjoyable and even potentially more rewarding. Don't accept your game as average or even a little above average. You should always want the best quality of content, so don't just settle more medicore, so-so skills when they have potential to be so much more than they are. |2,300+ Total|138 Combat|12 Lvl 99 Skills|99 Slayer|
October 9, 200817 yr intersting that.. but really, what sort of interesting stuff could they do with woodcutting, i mean with mining like u said digging tunnels and stuff, and with firemaking u could like melt ice giants or burn people or something but still. I havent training mining and wc in years, maybe if they did update it you would see them, and my total level, going up
October 9, 200817 yr fishing (which has been given variety) mining and wood cutting are primary industries and therefore the bedrock of economy type games. there needs to be a balance when updating an older skill to ensure it doesnt disadvantage people who have ground away at it too greatly. I do like the idea of updating it to make it more interesting or with a greater reward - not necessarily exp (mining on members is faster with granite, thats an apt reward for membership). i always love getting to be able to do or wear something different when i level
