Better gear/stats for barrows

Ok, I've recently started doing barrows trips on my account.

 

So far I've gotten fairly lucky.

 

Verac's skirt on my 3rd run and torag's hammers on my ~25 run, and about 300k in runes.

 

I plan on keeping the skirt till I hit 70 defence.

 

Which (after supplies for the next 20 runs or so) gives about 300k to play with.

 

 

 

My current setup is;

 

Helm -> farseers helm

 

Body -> prostyle (sp?) - Red dhide body - Runeplate

 

Legs -> Prostyle (sp?) - Red legs - d skirt

 

Hands -> RfD gloves

 

Neck -> Glory

 

Weapon -> Slayer staff - D scimmy - Rune c'bow

 

Cape -> god cape[prayer] (when I hit 60 magic I'll use the magic version)

 

Shield -> Broodo - obby shield

 

Boots -> Mystic

 

Ammo -> Broad bolts

 

 

 

Inv is just 3 p pots, runes (minds, deaths, laws and muds), the spare armour, spade, draymon(sp?) staff (DLS fairy ring is better then house tele to canfis(sp?) IMO) and the rest monkfish.

 

 

 

Stats in sig.

 

 

 

Any better armour, any skills to spend it on or any thing else to make the trips quick (currently taking about 12 minutes each trip).

Change the farseer helm to a proselyte helmet or something, mage bonus doesn't effect slayer dart damage. Don't change the cape either, for the same reason.

 

 

 

Get your construction up a bit too, Portals and stuff are rather helpful for barrows and just in general.

This is why I wear farseer and why I'm planning on wear magic god cape when I hit 60 magic (I'll hit 60 magic before 70 defence).

 

Another Myth that needs to be addressed is the "Slayer Dart myth." The origin of this myth was that this spell was mostly used for either barrows or Dagannoth King. Problem with these 2? DK Rex has a poor Magic defence as per the combat triangle design of Waterbirth island, and some of the Barrows Brothers have poor magic defence. It wasn't particularly hard to hit them with spells in the first place, but since most people use Slayer Dart only for these 2 areas, the myth arose. Fact is that it is still affected by Magic Bonus, and hence why it is suggested that your Magic attack bonus to never fall below -15 to -20, anything below that you start splashing regardless of your magic level. You pretty much always miss if your attack bonus is -60.

Fair enough, but I cast in Karils and torags and i hit fine with dart, could just be my magic level though.

Big update, I've just hit 60 mage so my cape is no magic god cape.

 

Just had another good run, my cash fund (spendable) is 800k.

 

Anyone got any recommendations now?

Well, I'd recommed you to do some slayer and get ranged, defence, strength and attack to at least 70. This will make you much more efficient. If you can, get 70 magic too.

 

 

 

At 70 defence you barely need prayer potions, so you'll save alot.

 

Black dragonhide is wayyy better then red dragonhide, and Ahrim will get absolutely ripped with rune c'bow.

 

 

 

As the barrows brothers has very low magic defence, you won't need magic boosting equipment (although it helps, it's not really worth it), so you can put away the farseer helm and put in a berserker helm. You can also change the mystic boots to dragon boots.

 

 

 

As for shield, don't bother with broodo, use obby all the way.

 

When you're 70 defence, you can remove 2 prayer potions and put monkfish there.

 

 

 

And lastly, the higher prayer level, the more prayer per dose, the more saved. So you could spend some money on a higher prayer level, but not essential.

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)
