range tank pking help

Featured Replies

hey guys.. im in the process of making a range tank.. atm my defence is 50 range 70 hp 60 and combat 60.. i know im no where near completed with my character but for fun and to take breaks from training i like to pk..

what do you think my best strategy would be? rune crossbow with diamond bolts, rune kite, rune full helm, and full black dhide.. or all the armor except shield and mage short bow? also should imaybe carry the shortbow for the spec? and if so about when should i use spec? kinda new to range pking so im not too sure how to be good at it.. thanks in advance

I find that for pking, always ALWAYS use dragonstone bolts (e). Never use addy, they have a max hit of about 30 which just doesnt cut it for pvp.

no point in bringing just the shortbow for spec, use rune x'bow with diamond bolts and like 50 d stone in invy (or less) to pull out at the end of the fight.

alright guys thanks that sounds like a good idea

Try different styles, different setups.

A basic tanking setup would be -

Torag/Rune helm

Blk Dhide Body

Torags/Rune legs

Blk Vamps/Barrows gloves

Glory

Rune boots

Accumalator

As for weapons, you have quite a few choices.

Rune C'Bow with D stone bolts work pretty well (combined with rune kite)

If you are good at timing/specs, or just want to change it up once in a while, try Msb with Rune arrows. You could also use Karils crossbow, but it lacks a spec. Also, with any of those setups, you can throw in a Dark bow with D arrows if you need a KO that packs a punch.

Since your new to range pking, I'd go with the Rune C'Bow, and just hope you get lucky and it specs for you. With Msb/Dark bow, you have to time it better, and be able to switch to the weapon and arrows quickly. It takes a bit of practice, but it'll get easier as you go.

Good luck. ::'

Very much good advice. When you PK too also max out your def gears along with your range, so play with your armor and find out what the best combo is (ex: do you want more def or more range bonus?)
