misterbrain
I didn't think to take any pictures, but when fighting Barrelchest, there is a safespot right in the doorway to the monastery that you can range or mage from without getting hit. Also, poison works very well to help kill him. I tried 10 times to kill him with melee, and didn't get anywhere, but one range trip, with 50 range, and I finished him off easily. Just might want to include this for those that range/mage, and can't really do the melee thing. as far as I can tell, it works best if you try to fight him once, teleport away, and then when you come back, just click on the doorway to enter the monastery and Barrelchest will be waiting for you, but unable to reach you as you stand in the doorway. Ned
I can confirm this, I used this safespot when doing this quest, although I was not a TIFer at the time ;) Want to help the Tip.It Crew? SportsGuy
I REALLY think the guide needs to be updated and changed to reflect this. I used the safespot and didn't get hit...not one time. I decimated him. In fact, it's not just the best or easiest way to do this quest...it should be the only recommended way. I think daring members to try and melee him would be irresponsible! I equipped myself with the diving helmet and breathing apparatus, but every other spot had a ranging boost. I used a crystal bow and didn't have to pick up arrows or anything. I think that part of the quest should be changed to something like: 9: Termination Items Required: Diving apparatus, fishing helmet Items Suggested: Good range boosting armor, range weapon (and lots of ammo, if needed), good food (in case something goes wrong and to heal from zombie pirate attacks on the way to or from the monastery), one-click teleport (in case something goes wrong) Speak to a Monk to receive Saradomin's blessing, then head out for the final battle, making sure that you are wearing the diviing apparatus and fishing helmet. Go to the Harmony Monastery where you killed the Sorebones (lvl 57) and confront Mi-Gor. He will set his bodyguard on you, Barrelchest (Level 190), and a cutscene shows him crashing through the wall. As soon as the cutscene ends, run to the door you came in and exit the monastery. Re-enter, but DO NOT MOVE. Right-click on Barrelchest to attack him. Do not run out to collect arrows, bolts, knives, javelins, or throwing axes. If you stay in that spot, Barrelchest cannot harm you. If you make a mistake and click to move from that safespot, run outside the monastery and re-enter or use your one-click teleport. After the battle, pick up the anchor he dropped and exit the monastery. Head to the granary and talk to Brother Tranquility to tell him Mi-Gor has fled. Brother Tranquility will have no leads when you bring up Rabid Jack, so you decide to leave it and rest. After you are awarded with a Blessed lamp, you will hear locusts approaching. With this, you have finished the quest. In short, +1 to this method. I've seen it elsewhere, I know it's been suggested before (perhaps even on this forum), but it's so unbelievably easy this way I think a change is warranted. A moderator or crewbie should feel free to delete this line and everything below it once the update has been received. I realize none of us have a "proof" shot, but if you want one showing where it is: [hide=Other website's picture showing safespot DO NOT USE on Tip.It! SportsGuy
My gear was black d-hide chaps, black d'hide [bleep]y vambs, blessed zammu d'hide body, crystal bow full, snakeskin boots, and of course, the fishbowl helmet and the diving apparatus (in the helm and cape spots). I also hit 10s and higher almost every hit...with 70 range. As previously mentioned, I wasn't even attacked. He stood there and died.
