Switching Majors and Colleges

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I can find nowhere better. First off I'm currently a Freshmen at College and my major is Business Administration. The truth is that I don't really like business that much and am more interested in History. I'm thinking about switching my major to History, because I like history a lot more. The only catch is that I do not want to be a history teacher and I really don't want to go to graduate school either. Then their is also the fact that I'm thinking about transfering. My reasons for thinking about transferring are not liking to pay for room/board. I would be transferring to a college in my hometown. I'm going to have to take out student loans, but I would prefer to cut off the 20k by staying at home. I know this is a very scatterbrained post, but advice on any of the topics is very welcome.

You should choose History, because it's a great major. It happens to be mine as well :D I'm going to be a teacher, even though you aren't too hot about it, it can be a good occupation. The only advice I can really give you is to definitely NOT pick something you don't like. You'll only be unhappy doing it.

Seriously study something that your willing to learn and interest you. I picked film because I know I'd enjoy it, I haven't been disappointed yet. Transferring also isn't a bid deal, lots of people do it after their first year for many reason like your own no one will look at you differently for doing so its completely understandable.

If your afraid of not wanting to pursue a career in history why not just minor or double major in it so you have other options.

I would also suggest when picking classes for your next semester just any 100 level class that interest you so you can get better understanding of certain subjects and see whats worth exploring more.
