Possible Java problem?

I have a problem, and not being a member, I can't post on RS forums. I have searched their forums though and can't find anything resembling my problem. Not sure if I should post this here, but I have a problem I would really like to resolve.

Here is my problem. Lately whenever I try to play Runescape the bottom of the screen just under the ad banner goes completely white in my browser. It does it both in Firefox and Iceweasel browsers. I recently upgraded to the latest Java version. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it wasn't doing it before. I can still hear the game going on, if I am fishing, I can hear the splash sounds. The whole browser is just white space though except for the ad banner at the top.

Thanks in advance for any possible help.

What OS are you running at the time this happens? :-s

Also, have you tried clicking out in the black space that is off both sides of the advert, and tapping F11 (or just simply going to "View > Full Screen", instead of using that shortcut) for the full screen function on your browser? (Not the game itself, just the browser's rendering space which the applet is contained in.) If you're having the problem I think you are, that should fix it. If not, then you've got a worse problem than what I estimated. :-k

Please post back if that works or not. We can start the more serious troubleshooting after we know whether this is just a simple redraw glitch... :geek:

Well, I had planned on re-installing my OS. I am awful when it comes to file organization and such and my hard drive was getting fairly full. I had been wanting to check out Intrepid (was currently using Hardy) so I just did a fresh install and killed two birds with one stone. Fixed my RS java issue and cleaned out my hard drive in one fell swoop.

In other words, I fixed the problem, but did it in a way most wouldn't really want to do. So, I have no clue what the fix for the problem was, but it works fine now.

Thanks for trying to help though.

Edit: Just pointing out Dev, not saying in a bad or demeaning way. Iceweasel was a sure clue I was more than likely using Linux.

I really wish you hadn't reformatted. At least back up your personal data first before doing that, if you haven't already? :wall:

No offense taken. I hadn't remembered that Iceweasel was a Linux browser...
