@ the first one, since I don't particularly like the Pentium 4 platform:

You are using Socket 754, which is an abandoned standard. Use Socket 939 instead. You will need to change motherboard and CPU to do this.

You are using AGP, which is an old standard. Use PCI-X instead. You will need a need motherboard and graphics card to do this.

Get ordinary PC3200 RAM, anything above that is next to pointless on the AMD64 platform.

The graphics card is outdated. I bought that one 2 years ago, and it wasn't exactly top of the line back then either.

I aslso don't particularly like buying PSU's that haven't got the brand listed.

thanks pyro can u point me in the direction/show me some motherboards and such that would be compatible, most new games require pentium 4 to work thats why.

And better graphics card, motherboard and all that you mentioned that would be compatible with ure mentioned fixes

thanks,

Motherboard:

http://uk.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1

CPU:

Any AMD64 processor that uses socket 939, preferably with a Venice core (90nm)

Grahpics card:

http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2599078 (Radeon X800XL, PCI-E)

-OR-

Memory:

Any Kingston 512MB (x2)

These would be my recomendations. Obviously there are a lot of other great products on the market, but these are the ones I recomend based on benchmarks, features and reviews.

Second of course, it's newer and faster. They're both Nvidia GPUs. The 7800 is the latest. Of course it's more expensive and if the rest of the computer can't keep up, the card will end up waiting for it.

Hmm, since money isn't an issue, I suggest getting an SLI setup with 2 7800's. Also, make absolutely sure your ram is DUAL CHANNELED+. Not all memory can do this so make sure you read before you buy.

Also, since you want a future proof gaming machine, get 2gb+ of ram.

As for the processor, I suggest getting an athlon FX-55, or one of the new dual cored ones although I do not know too much about them, only that some future games may take advantage of the 2 cores.

Are you building this yourself? No offense, but you don't sound like you know fully what you're doing..

Sounds like the computer guy he mentioned will do it

either me and a friend will build it or have it done my the site.

Aussie Aussie Aussie,
