My clue scroll leads to a piece of land near this waterfall, and it requires me to swim to it but every time i try it drowns me and i go back to the bottom of the river. Please help!

Use a rope on the rock, and then again on the dead tree. Also you need glarial's amulet if it is inside the waterfall (Waterfall Quest).
