July 6, 200520 yr There are some skills on f2p which are obviously rewarding and profitable to train in: mining and smithing-even up to the top lvl 99 you are still learning adn everyone wants rune armour so theres always a f2p and p2p market. fishing and cooking-everyone needs food when fighting, especially when pking, so there is always a market for high lvl fish and other food products. however, woodcutting and firemaking seem to be entirely pointless on f2p. sure, theres a good market for yews, but only because the f2pers have to rely on the p2pers buying off them for fletching. firemaking is also entirely pointless, why would u train to a high lvl of firemaking when yew logs cook food just as well as normal ones. My suggestions are these: 1) Open up a restricted system of fletching to f2pers. Perhaps up to steel, mith or adamant arrows. then, at least there will be another use for the logs that high lvl woodcutters on f2p seem to stockpile, other than to sell to the p2pers. (it would also make use of the feathers that some f2pers seem to have for some reason(other than low lvl fishing). lol) 2) Make use of firemaking in f2p, im not entirely sure what firemaking is used for in p2p, as im only f2p myself. But it does seem like a skill that is surplus to requirements and until now ive basically ignored it. Anyway, feel free to comment, agree and disagree and give any other views on this matter. Cheers, Will
July 6, 200520 yr 1) Open up a restricted system of fletching to f2pers. The standard answer is, "Get Members" 2) Make use of firemaking in f2p, im not entirely sure what firemaking is used for in p2p, IIRC, It's very useful in the "Shades of Mortton" quest. ...But it does seem like a skill that is surplus to requirements and until now ive basically ignored it. It always useful as an F2P skill total raiser...

July 6, 200520 yr Author wally, the topic is about woodcutting and firemaking in f2p, so the "get members" isnt really an answer at all. and again, the topic is about woodcutting and firemaking in f2p, so the fact that its put to good use in a members quest is again irrelavent. finally, yes it may be a good total skill raiser, but having a skill simply to tally up numbers with no real advantages seems a bit pointless. im not flaming u, ur entitled to ur opinions.
July 6, 200520 yr hes right, in f2p firemaking is for nothing more than skill total. In members, however, there are multiple quests and areas that require firemaking lvls. I dont know what jagex planned to do with firemaking in the beginng, but it seems now there are scrambling to find a use for it, some the latest areas require firemaking. I ignored firemaking also, just recently got it up to 40. Its an easy skill to raise, if your ever bored its a fresh change, you cna make fun designs with the fires. As for fletching...hes right again. To add fletching to f2p would change alot things, and i dont think it would be for th better.
July 6, 200520 yr Firemaking is practically useless in p2p too. If you want money with wc, then don't burn the logs, sell them to p2p fletchers.
July 6, 200520 yr wally, the topic is about woodcutting and firemaking in f2p, so the "get members" isnt really an answer at all. But didn't you also say... Anyway, feel free to comment, agree and disagree... Looks like you didn't really mean it then... ...and again, the topic is about woodcutting and firemaking in f2p, so the fact that its put to good use in a members quest is again irrelavent. And you also said... ...and give any other views on this matter. I guess that you didn't mean that either... ...finally, yes it may be a good total skill raiser, but having a skill simply to tally up numbers with no real advantages seems a bit pointless. True. I have always thought that the Runescape skills were not thought out or planned very well. ...im not flaming u, ur entitled to ur opinions. Well, you write one thing and then say another. You do appear to be contradicting yourself.
July 6, 200520 yr Author whatever man, u did disagree. fair dos, i was just disagreeing with you again. no worries. id probably have a more rounded view of the skills if i had p2p. sorry if i contradicted myself. lol. i realise i was being a bit hypocritical.
July 6, 200520 yr whatever man, u did disagree. On what? :? My comment of "Get members" was designed to cut to the bottom line of your "rant". Writing about this issue in a non Jagex forum probably won't accomplish much. The best ways to change your situation with this issue is to either get "membership" or send in your suggestions via the Runescape home page. ...i was just disagreeing with you again. When you wrote that firemaking was "... skill that was surplus..." My answer of "... skill total raiser..." is actually a tongue-in-cheek answer that is, essentially, in agreement with you. Sigh, guess I should have put in a winky or something... ...id probably have a more rounded view of the skills if i had p2p. I am, and always have been, F2P myself.
July 6, 200520 yr Author guess i got the wrong end of the stick, i didnt mean it to be a rant. well this has degenerated, anyway, back to the subject. do u think they could do anything to firemaking to make it more useful to f2pers?
July 6, 200520 yr guess i got the wrong end of the stick, i didnt mean it to be a rant. well this has degenerated, anyway, back to the subject. do u think they could do anything to firemaking to make it more useful to f2pers? Yes but only in a way of restricting items they already give. Like what you can cook on a fire (requires a certain lvl), heating up a stove (turn all f2p stoves into old fashion ones). Here's one: Restricting wildy lvl based off Firemaking. You'd have to burn down a wall of trees (as in burn one in a row) to get to Greaters for example. July 6, 200520 yr Author i suppose that would turn firemaking into one of the most important skills in the game. although i dont know whether i like it. dont know why, i just dont. lol.
