  1. Hmmm, I suppose that a bug could have crept in with the latest update but thousands of people have done this part before. Why don't you post a pick of your inventory when you are at the door in the NE section of the mine.
  2. Another view on this issue is to see how other games do it. Runescape is a very skill level oriented game. For many players getting the desired level is the goal. Other games are more monster-encounter oriented. Reaching a certain level just allows you to get the final goodies. The level is just a means to an end, not the end itself. The fun comes from getting good loot from tough monsters that can only be killed with good teamwork.
  3. On what? :? My comment of "Get members" was designed to cut to the bottom line of your "rant". Writing about this issue in a non Jagex forum probably won't accomplish much. The best ways to change your situation with this issue is to either get "membership" or send in your suggestions via the Runescape home page. When you wrote that firemaking was "... skill that was surplus..." My answer of "... skill total raiser..." is actually a tongue-in-cheek answer that is, essentially, in agreement with you. Sigh, guess I should have put in a winky or something... I am, and always have been, F2P myself.
  4. Look here It doesn't have everything but it's a good start...
  5. But didn't you also say... Looks like you didn't really mean it then... And you also said... I guess that you didn't mean that either... True. I have always thought that the Runescape skills were not thought out or planned very well. Well, you write one thing and then say another. You do appear to be contradicting yourself.
  6. No The monster could be made to gain exp only when it killed humans. Also, it could only be a few select monsters. No In F2P, there are only 11 monsters above level 35 that you can train on. There are only 5 above level 45 to train on. A lot of players would probably question how well Runescape is balanced. Look at the number of level 99 fletchers compared to 99 prayer. But, regardless, if Jagex was careful about how they implemented it, then it need not unbalance the game.
  7. The way that other games have done horses is to simply replace/update the running animation. The way it works is something like: 1) Use bridle (in inventory) 2) Poof, you appear to be sitting on the back of the horse 3) You click on the map to go somewhere and the animation shows you riding the horse. 4) You reach your destination and go back to step 2 or 5) You click "Dismount" and you 6) Poof, are back on the ground and the horse disappears. So, if Jagex added horses in this manner it could be a relatively easy addition.
  8. Well if you can't get members then I suggest you work on skill goals. For example, you are 8642 iron ore away from level 85 mining. You are 6965 silver Tiara's away from being able to make Power Ammies. Or try and get 1 million exp in every/most skills. Or try and raise/earn 20 million gp. If you raised all of your skills by about 6 levels then you could make the top 150 F2P high skill total list.
  9. Interesting idea.. To do it right I think that Jagex would have to make it only a few select monsters in specific locations and they would gain levels only if they kill the pesky humans that attacked it. If this is done to only a few monsters then you don't have to reset their levels. Also, Jagex could increase the loot as the monster leveled up. :D Kinda off topic but, another game has announced an expansion that will let you play as a monster!. So, you could, for awhile, play as a Lesser Demon or White knight or Goblin or whatever. Imagine playing as a Greater Demon and chasing the wildy PKers to get revenge! Now that could be fun!
  10. The standard answer is, "Get Members" IIRC, It's very useful in the "Shades of Mortton" quest. It always useful as an F2P skill total raiser...
  11. Several reasons... 1) There are many, many players under the age of 15. Their maturity is obvious. 2) You can be anonymous. Hence people don't have to play by standard civilized rules. 3) This game is essentially, solo player based. People think only of themselves. 4) This game encourages PKing. You are "expected" to hurt other players. One "fix" is, sadly, switch to another game. For example, how does EQ compare in the above areas? 1) EQ costs $15 or so per month. That prevents many of the worst players from playing. 2) Has the same problem. 3) EQ is, mostly, team based. Players that act like jerks won't find many teams to be on. 4) There are dedicated non PK worlds. Another "fix" might be to make level restricted areas. Perhaps make areas where only levels 40 or 60 and above could go. Players of all levels can still be jerks but this might be a step in the right direction. Another "fix" might be to require a team to kill a certain monster. Some quests require another player to complete. Just extend that concept and have the game recognize your fighting "partners". Note: this would not be the same as the multi-combat areas. There will always be jerks in this game and that's why Jagex gave us the Privacy button :D
  12. But anyone who has finished the quest can still get another one from Sir Prysin for 500 gold. By dropping it and then talking to him again you can get as many as you want.
  13. That "weaking" effect happens only in RSC. Jagex changed the way that Silverlight works in RS2. Now, Silverlight works like a Rune longsword when used against Demons.
  14. I have found that Addy/Mith arrows vanish too quickly. Use steel arrows instead. The max hit for each arrow type is about Steel = (Range+14)/8 Mith = (Range+13.5)/7.5 Addy = (Range+16)/7 Rapid is probably best for training Accurate mode is slower but gives +1 to max hit Longe Range splits the exp with Defense.
  15. Yes, that's what Jagex said they wanted (24-Nov-2003) for the RS2 combat system. Yes, you can clearly see the tradeoffs that Jagex made for the 2 weapons. Long: flexible, but slower. Scimitar: fast, but "specialized" I guess if they made a multicombat zone with some enemy wearing chain mail and others wearing plate then you could see a difference.
