purewcnub
My smithing level is currently 48. What is the fastest way to raise it that will not cost a huge amount of money? Goals: 94 magic94 ranged55 slayerAddy gloves-done
Kellis
Mine the ores yourself X( But seriously, go with iron ores and rings of forging. Or, alternatively, mine gold and sell it, use the money to buy coal, and go with steel bars.
purewcnub
I have done the iron ore smelting, and I liked it. I was just wondering if there was a faster way. I'm going to smith iron ores in the edgeville furnace(the one that requires varrock armour) and wear all of my weight reducing gear. Would this be a good strategy? Kellis
Hmm, I remember reading somewhere that using the edgeville furnace messes with the ring of forging . . . not sure though. Give it a try.
purewcnub
ring of forging works just as normal in the edgeville furnace. I am doubling my money and getting smithing exp at the same time using iron ore. thanks Goals: 94 magic94 ranged55 slayerAddy gloves-done
Bashful
hrm.. so you're just smelting iron? i think i did more of steel smelting before. haha.
dorcus1
Edgy furnace messes up your ring of forging because you could forge two iron bars at once with one ring charge. Messes up the whole 5-invies-per-ring system. I personally stick with al-kharid for smelting iron, don't have to worry so much about switching out the rings. Iron bars are probably the way to go. If you want more afkness, go for the cannonballs. 25 exp and 150 gp profit per steel bar used isn't too bad (except it takes 3 or 4 seconds for each steel bar) I think the best compromise between speed and exp is making ranged ammo. Iron knives, steel arrowtips, mith bolts, and addy bolts. You do lose a bit of money, but I'm not sure how much. "The best defence is to stay out of range" - French proverbBad luck happens. meb
Dorcus is right, but using Al Kharid for smelting iron is not very smart. You have to run a long way from the bank to the furnace. Smelt in Port Phasmatys instead, the furnace is even closer to a bank than in Edgevillle. You can't use the Varrock armour there though.
