  1. I got the gem bag, then the bonecrusher, and now I'm going for the herbicide. All of these items really help for slayer drops / inventory management. Are they worth all the effort? Now I'll say no, but in a year I'll say yes.
  2. I take it that this 800k an hour only factors in the time spent making pizza bases, and not the time getting the pots of flour? Just wondering, how easy is it to get the pots of flour on the Grand Exchange? (I just can't see myself doing the grunt work of buying pots of flour from shops. I'm lazy like that =P)
  3. It's not slightly slower, it's so much slower. You could easily make the 1 mil difference with the time the gilded altar saves you.
  4. now, i use super att and normal str pots, as well as EE. before I got the EE, I used d baxe and super att pots, as well as more food. Range pots in both cases.
  5. gold rings are used for summoning, but ever since stealing creation, gold bars have increased in price. Dunno if it's worth it to make gold rings anymore. The classic thing to do would be to make hardleather bodies. I personally tried camping at the crafting guild, mining clay, watering them, and making bowls. That's a cheap way, but probably not worth your time.
  6. Think of the slayer requirement for your avatar as your avatar's "defense" level. An enemy who wants to attack your avatar has to have enough of a slayer level to beat the "defense" level. By burying bones (any type will do) in your team's graveyard, you increase your avatar's "defense" level. Don't get the charms reward. You can get faster charms doing just about anything else.
  7. Thanks for the advice guys. I guess not too many people have tried it, so I should do some hands-on testing. That works for using the abyss. Double cosmics abyss > single nature abyss. But I dunno about double cosmic fairy ring vs. single nature graahk.
  8. Here's the route I'm using: bank at castlewars slayer ring to relekka fairy ring to Zanaris run to altar (use agility shortcuts) craft dueling ring to castlewars Questions: (in terms of cash) Does this beat using the abyss? Does this beat 50/50 GOP* (if you can still do that)? Would I be better off doing natures with graahks? *Edit: As Krazi kindly pointed out, I meant GOP, not FoG.
  9. From what I hear, shortbows have the same accuracy and power as the longbow. Shortbow has a higher firing rate (more dps) Longbow has a higher range. So use longbow only when you're too far away to use shortbow.
  10. I think the minigame takes too much time, but I will get 300 rank for imbuing the ranging ring. Only 15 hours of MA to go :( So, the warrior ring (i) is better, but just too time consuming to get?
  11. I'm just wondering which one is better. I'll be training slayer using Sumona. My weapon is the all-purpose whip. Warrior ring (i) gives +8 to slash Berserker ring gives +4 to strength Edit: for the sake of argument, let's pretend I already have both rings. I'll be getting ma rank 300 anyway for ranging ring. Edit2: Just a few hours after I posted this, the latest update lets me imbue berserker rings. I guess the choice is obviously berserker ring (i) now.
  12. PC is pretty damn good for hp. The monsters have relatively low defense, so you'll be able to do a lot of damage. Spend points on hp xp. Fastest hp xp that I know of. Although, really, you should never train combat without slayer. You *might* regret not getting slayer xp.
  13. FoG is a game. For me, success is defined by winning or thinking about ways to win. That, for me, is the whole point of any game. For some others, FoG success is defined by mage exp, tokens, maybe rating, or sometimes (OMG) fun. Those who play FoG for exp or token rewards are defeating the purpose of the game - to have fun. Sometimes I like to play f2p FoG. In those cases, attack damage is relatively low. At times like these, I have a tough choice to make: to have rune armor or not to have rune armor? I don't bring rune armor, so I can outrun my opponent. =P It's funny to see my hunter cursing when he's down to 0 energy and I'm still able to run away.
  14. You can't have discussion if either of you isn't willing to listen to the other. Sounds like you both can't listen to each other (or at least you're not willing to listen to him). So don't bother arguing a small point. Just agree to disagree. Disclaimer: I just say the following to get you thinking, not because I believe in it. Feel free to flame my ideas, just don't flame me personally. I'll be the Devil's Advocate and say that combat is all there is because it's more fun than grinding skills, and opens up a world of boss-hunting. Combat is the best moneymaker in the game, and is the most visible sign of your experience (combat levels). Plus, you get to wear cool armor. Everything else in the game only exists to serve combat. Mining --> smithing --> armour/weapons for combat. Woodcutting --> Fletching --> weapons for combat. Crafting --> equipment for combat. Fishing --> Cooking --> food for combat. Farming --> Herblore --> pots for combat. As you can see, combat is the be-all and end-all of Runescape
  15. 500 mithril dragons. 1500 Goraks. I wouldn't want to get tasks like that, so I'd skip em. But something like 5 mithril dragons or 50 Goraks (which could be today's task) is more managable. I might actually do them instead of skipping them. You need to remember that the slayer skill was designed to be a "fun" way to train combat. It's the anti-camp. It encourages you to go out and kill a variety monsters you wouldn't normally kill, explore areas you generally wouldn't explore. The slayer mask and helm were made so that slayers didn't have to feel so guilty about not using the most efficient training methods. Let's face it: slayer monsters aren't the most efficient monsters to kill, even with the slayer helm. This "high-level" slayer master would suck all the variety out of slayer. It would make slayer less fun, but more efficient as a skill to grind. I suppose that there are a few people who would use that slayer master. I don't see anything wrong with putting in a high-level, many-monsters-per-task slayer master in, as long as he's well balanced. Just don't expect me to use him.
  16. I used barrows armor on my last four tries, and failed on all of them. Skill and practice > gear. The guides do give you a decent outfit - you need to attack with ranged, and you need to be able to protect yourself from ranged attacks without prayer. Rune and black dhide seem to be the best option at lvl 45 def. Alternatively, you can use prayer-boosting gear, though I'm not sure how much a hope that would be.
  17. In terms of absolute usefulness, I'd say that melee void is better than range void, which is better than mage void. But you can't really compare the void sets against each other, as they're used for different things. Remember that since void armor aids your offense on a percentage basis, it gets better the higher leveled you are. Melee void must be compared with melee equipment. Melee void is crap compared to slayer mask and random armor (I don't train combat without slayer). Melee void offers the best non-slayer attack capabilities. But then, the defense on void equipment is comparable to red dragonhide. If you melee with void, you're gonna get hit hard. Unless you beat up on really weak monsters or play a minigame where offense matters more than defense (FoG and PC), melee void isn't of much use compared to stuff that's out there. It's probably worth getting melee void only if you are only missing the helm. Range void is arguably the best ranging equipment. The attack boost helps a lot, and the defense on void range isn't too bad compared with the alternative ranging gear. If you're safespotting, then defense doesn't really matter =P. Get void range if you ever decide to train ranged. It's that good. Void magic is an interesting set. I must admit that I never use magic for combat, except in FoG. And even then, magic's not the main damage dealer. Magic sucks for monster killing, so void mage sucks for monster killing =P. The mace is great if you ever need to auto-cast crumble undead or the guthix god spell. I wouldn't know how to use this set, so no advice here. So I'd say void range would be the best investment. After getting that, then get the melee helm. Dunno if the mage helm is worth it. Then after getting that set, try to get another void set as a placeholder so your bank organization doesn't screw up :
  18. How do you know the whip's price is gonna go down and not up? With 26k-ing inflation, you'll see the price of most things rise. Like whips. Get a whip. Even if you lose money, it's worth it.
  19. Jagex screwed up. I wonder if they had any playtesters on this game. It's obvious that camping is the best strategy to win the game - why lose your squads when you can just wait for other people to lose their squads? But, then, camping leads to inaction. If everyone camps, there's no game. So, why can't they change up the format a little bit? Force the players to go out and fight. Decrease the time limit. Make it a 1v1 game, or even a 2v2 game. I haven't tried siege, that sounds like a better format. Too bad I can't play on siege. I think the strategy element shoiuld be inherent to the game, not to the way the rewards are calculated. In any decent RTS, simplistic strategies always have a counterstrategy. Successful strategies don't last long before someone figures out a counter. In mobilising armies, you can rush or turtle. But you can't boom. Turtle beats rush beats boom beats turtle. Take boom out of the triangle. Now you have turtle beats rush. There is a metagame - how do I get higher rankings? You see this in every game. In online RTS games (especially command and conquer) you see people rushing all the time. It's not because rushing is most likely to get you a win. It's because rushing leads to faster games, which means that players can get higher rankings quicker, if they're good enough to win often enough.
  20. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=kalphite_dungeon.htm Title says it all, really.
  21. I've heard of fletching broad bolts as an alternative. You should be able to buy unfinished broad bolts at any nearby slayer store. No idea about exp or money rates, but it's the same bolts/hour as mithril bolts.
  22. Go to the first world that has the "fist of guthix" theme. If that doesn't work, go play on a non-members world.
  23. Super attack potions are worth using at that price. Super strength potions are not worth using, but strength potions are. I go for super attack potion and normal strength potion. With proper planning, you could finish the potions on schedule and drop the vials. With improper planning, you could finish the potions before schedule and drop the vials. You shouldn't worry about invy space.
  24. I'm a member, but I do go to f2p FoG to beat up on lower-leveled people. I've got a small dilemma. Should I bring full rune or not? Weight vs. defense... I've had a lot of fun wearing green dragonhide and running while hunted. The moment the hunter spots me, I start walking away. If he's catching up, I run. If the hunter is wearing full rune then he's out of luck. It's funny to watch a low-speed chase on the outside area. Especially if my run energy doesn't drain as fast (due to weight, not to agility) \ Also, melee doesn't pose so much of a threat to me. You know the two rocks near the fist? One northwest and one southwest? If the opponent's meleeing you, use those rocks for cover. At those points, you still get 28 charges per "tick" so it's really worth using. That, and I rely on prayer. I know I'm probably going to win either way, so: should I bring full rune and tank or forgo heavy armor and run circles around my opponent?
  25. Make gold rings. No gems. The gold rings are more expensive than gold bars, if I'm not mistaken. I have no idea on exp per hour or gp per hour, though. Otherwise, well, crafting leather or dragonleather would be faster, but at a bigger loss.
