The only difference may be profit. They've fixed it then? Last time I checked with the morphic hammer, it was extra experience granted per item, not per bar. Although i haven't smithed in a day or two so it may have been updated without my knowledge. Also, mithril bolts at the blast furnace are nice because they stack, allowing you to stay there longer than if you're doing plates (unless you're bringing alching runes and high alching the items there as well).
